I am introducing Mr. Sushil Gupta who is one of our trustees and also the Chairman of Pranic Healing Foundation of Delhi. My first rendezvous with him was during in the full moon meditation at Sri Aurobindo Center in 1995-96. Very simple, soft spoken and generous at heart, he is the Managing Director and Chief Executive of the Asian Hotels Ltd and Director of many Tourism, Financial and Social organisations.
He hails from a family of freedom fighters. Before partition his grandfather had business of hardware import in Karachi (now in Pakistan) and Amritsar. His father Late Shri Chaman Lal Gupta and his uncle Shri Amir Chand Gupta both were freedom fighters. His father had a business of hardware import and his uncle was a MLA from Amritsar. Mr. Sushil Gupta was born on 5th January 1944 in Amritsar. His life was greatly influenced by his father and uncle who followed non-violence and taught him the value system and ethics of life. He studied in Ram Ashram School in Amritsar and stood first in matric examination in 1959. He completed his FSC from DAV College Amritsar, Punjab. In 1947 after partition the center for business changed from Amritsar to Delhi, so his father shifted their family to Delhi and started their business of exporting Musk and Gal stone. At the age of 17 he had to leave his studies and join his father's business due to family compulsions, it was 1961. In 1967 he got married to Ms. Vinita and is blessed with a son and a daughter. His son, Sandeep is MBA and his daughter Gunjan a Charttered Accountant.
1980 was the turning point in his life when he entered 'Show Business' by joining the Asian Hotels Ltd, a hotel promotion company as their Chief Executive. To become more familiar with his new work environment he did a Diploma in Hotel Administration from American Hotel and Motel Association, USA. He became the President of the Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India and also the Member of Finance Committee, International Hotel and Restaurant Associations, Paris in 1997. Now in addition to the MD & CEO of Asian Hotels Ltd he is the Chairman of Choice Hospitality (India) Pvt. Ltd.; a Joint Venture with Choice Hotels International; Director of Tourism Finance Corporation of India; Sita Holiday Resorts Ltd; Inovoa Securities Ltd, USA; Vice Chairman Gangotri Conservation Project (to clean and green the Gangotri Basin of Himalayas); Member of Advisory board, Inst of Vocational studies, HP University and a Trustee of Himalayan Environment Trust.
Mr. Sushil Gupta is associated with a lot of social activities. In 1977 he joined Rotary Club of India, Delhi Chapter as a member. He served Rotary International as District Governor from 1986 to 1987 and was the Instructor for training at International assembly at Nashville, US in year 1998. He was the personality who started the Polio Immunization program in India as Deputy Chairman of Polio Plus Task Force wef from 1987 to 1991.
When I asked him how he became a Pranic Healer. He Smiled and said "right here! I did my Basic Pranic Healing Course in Hyatt Hotel in 1995". He visited Manila for the first International Pranic Healing Convention and met Master Choa Kok Sui. Pranic Healing Foundation of Delhi was registered in March 1995 and he joined PHFD as a trustee. He took over the Chairmanship of PHFD from Dr. K. M. Agrawal a year back.
He says, "Pranic healing is a way of life, ever since we learnt Pranic Healing we have been practicing it almost every day for healing ourselves and others". I asked him "As a chairman of PHFD what all activities you are carrying out to spread Pranic Healing" He said "So far we were trying to spread a word about Pranic Healing especially in all the corners of Delhi. We have found important people have shown interest Now our objective is to have a permanent site for the Pranic Healing Foundation of Delhi in central location where Healing, Training of new healers and other activities can be performed in a much systematic manner ". I asked him "would you like to convey something to other Pranic Healers ". He says, "I want everyone who has learnt Pranic Healing should heal others so that the objective of spreading Pranic Healing is achieved". Inspite of his busy schedule, Mr. Sushil Gupta does regular healings in his office twice a week on Tuesday and Friday. He is indeed a multidimensional personality...
