~Chapter 18~

Moping around the house wasn't helping. Brian sat on his couch flipping through the channels. He must have went through all of them at least 12 times. He wasn't paying much attention anyway. The only thing he could think about was what he said to Danielle. Why did he say that? He didn't mean it and he hated himself for being so cruel. He sighed and continued flipping around.

Danielle was gripping so thightly on the steering wheel that her knuckles were turning white. She sat in his driveway for almost an hour. She was suprised he hadn't looked out the window and caught her.

Her flight to Florida was the morning after she talked to Jakie. It was now 12:30 in the afternoon and she knew she had to get out of the car. Its now or never. She just hoped he'd hear her out before slamming the door in her face.

Danielle took a deep breath and got out of the car. She made her way up his front path and then rung the door bell. After a moment she heard some movement come from inside and then the door swung open.

Brian's heart stopped. Was she really standing there or was he just dreaming? No, it was real. Those hazel eyes staring back at him were real. He didn't know what to say so he stayed quiet.

Danielle smiled weakly but it quickly faded. They staired into each others eyes not saying a word. After a few moments she couldn't bare it and quickly looked at the ground. "It's been a few minutes and you haven't slammed the door yet." She said lightly. "What are you doing here?" He asked more confused then angry. Danielle's gaze returned to his eyes. "I had to tell you that I made a mistake." Brian sighed lightly and then moved his body to the side. "Come in."

Danielle stepped inside and Brian closed the door behind her. They stood infront of the door silently for a moment then Danielle spoke. "I can understand that you hate me but I just had to tell you that I made a mistake. I knew that if I never told you I'd regret it for the rest of my life." She told him. He continued to stare at her. "I don't love Richard. I don't think I ever did." She stopped again, hoping he'd say something. Instead he said nothing.

Danielle's heart was racing now. 'Why is he being so quiet?' She thought. 'Maybe he's just waiting for me to finish so he can throw me out.' She sighed. "I came here to tell you that I do love you. I was afraid to tell you because I was afraid of being with you. I was afraid that you would just hurt me. But I'm not afraid now. I know it's probably to late and you don't want me anymore and I can understand that."

Danielle bit her lip and lowered her eyes. "I'm gonna go." She said, trying so had to hold back the tears that were threatening to spill out. When she attempted to pass him, Brian put his arm out and wrapped it around her waste stopping her from moving. Danielle rose her eyes to meet his. She watched as he slowly moved closer to her.

Their gaze stayed connected until Brian closed his eyes and placed his lips softly on hers. He pulled her tightly in his arms and deepend the kiss. It felt like it had been forever since he tasted her sweet lips. After a moment he pulled away and smiled at her. A tear escaped her eye and he wiped it away with his thumb. "I love you." He told her. She smiled. "I love you so much." She said softly. Brian ran his hand through her hair and lightly kissed her forehead. "You have no idea how long I've waited to hear you say that."
