A Minor Reflection: a true story
As told by Suz

Now I know that there must be other obsessive psychos out there in the world beside me. Ones that like Mulan. Ones have collected all the McDonald’s toys, as have I. I just don't know it they've any anything this insane happen to them. This was at the end of June when I was in the process of collecting them. I only had Yao, Lin, Chien Po, Little Brother, Mushu, Shang, and Shan Yu at that time. With what I had, I placed my toys on my bookshelf which was part of my desk…..the section I placed them on is called a bridge, I think. Those of you who have the toys know how hard it is to get some of them to stand. It took me forever to get Shang to stand and Shan Yu also had problems standing, top heavy guy that he was. Or is, for that matter.

My entire family knows I’m obsessed with Mulan. However, only my sister knows about the unhealthy obsession I have with Shang…..my parents are totally oblivious to my love life. Anyways, I had finished taking a shower one night and I went into my room to gloat over my ever growing collection of Mulan toys…..and the Shang toy, of course. *g* To my horror, when I looked on my bookshelf, my Shang toy was gone!!! I immediately thought of my sister and went storming over to the gameroom where she was practicing cello. Bascially, this is how the conversation went:

Me: Alright. Give him back.
Steph: What?
Me: *surpressed irritation* My Shang doll. Give him back. Where did you put him?
Steph: What? I didn’t put him anywhere.
Me: Very funny. Now give me Shang back!!!
Steph: I don’t have him!!!
Me: Seriously. I meant it. Stop it. Give him back.
Steph: I’m telling you, I didn’t take him!

At this point my sister sounded very convincing that she didn’t take Shang though I still had my doubts. But then I went to ask my mom. She tends to play all sorts of little jokes on me so I went in the study and asked her:

Me: All right, where did you put my Mulan McDonald’s toy?
Mom: *stops typing* What?
Me: My McDonald’s toy. It’s gone. Where did you put it?
Mom: Which toy?
Me: My Mulan toy. The guy one. Where did you put it?
Mom: I didn’t take your toy. Why would I want it?
Me: I don’t know!!
Mom: Why are you asking me?
Me: Because I just looked and it’s gone and I asked Stephanie if she took it and she says she didn’t and now it’s missing! *close to tears*
Mom: *sighs* Are you sure it didn’t fall down on the floor or anything?
Me: Yes. I checked my desk and everything; it’s not on there.

So my mom got up and we both went upstairs. Then all three of us (Steph, too) combed my room looking for Shang. Then my mom started asking me the oddest questions:

Mom: Are you sure it was on your shelf last night?
Me: What is THAT supposed to mean??
Mom: I mean, did you take it to bed to play with or anything?
Me: WHAT??? (My sister unsuccesfully muffles her laughter and I turn to her:) Not ONE word…not a SINGLE word. I don’t want to hear about it.
Mom: What?
Me: Nothing.

Miraculously, my toy was found at the foot of my chair…..the way my desk is, I don’t see how he could’ve fell to the floor instead of onto my desk instead. I swear to you, someone must have taken him down and set him there or something.

Me: There is NO way it could’ve fallen down there.
Mom: Well, maybe they had a fight or something.
Me: NO!!! (cuz that would’ve meant Shang lost!!) Mom….

Anyways, my sister and my mom had some odd reason to stay in my room and watch me put my Shang back on the shelf. Then my sister voiced a complaint which I had heard many times over:

Steph: You’re not putting them in the right positions!! (referring to the placement pictured the piece of paper that came with the toys) Mulan’s supposed to be over there! (I had Mushu right next to Shang)
Me: *testily* Well, it doesn’t seem like I have a Mulan right now to put there, does it??
Mom: You could be Mulan…..

Don’t ask me where my mom got that idea. At this point, my sister started cracking up again and I had to whack her a few times to shut her up.
Me: Mom…..please. Get real. (to Steph:) Not ONE word!!!!

Yeah, I know. I have a very odd family.
