The astrological correspondence to this card is the Sun, of course. The rune is Sigel.
The Sun represents power & energy. The sun is the ultimate power source!
The horse is without saddle or bridle. It is controlled without the use of the hands, either. This is a symbol of perfect control between the conscious & subconscious.
The orange banner represents action & vibration. The rays of the sun represent the same thing: The straight rays are action while the wavy rays represent vibration. The banner is being held in the left hand, showing that control has passed from the conscious to the subconscious.
The walled garden is the cultivated garden of mankind. The little boy is riding away from it, leaving it behind. The sunflowers look toward him instead of to the sun for nourishment. They are seeking his wisdom. There are 4 sunflowers, representing the 4 suits of the Minor Arcana, as well as the 4 elements.
The wreath & the feather are the same wreath & feather the Fool wears. Again, the child is naked, having nothing to hide. He has all the innocence & purity of childhood.
The Sun asks you what you have achieved. How do you spread the warmth of the Sun to others?
ASSIGNMENT:
Take out the Sun card (tell us what deck you are using). Ask the Sun to give y some insights into your own personality.
Shuffle the deck in your usual manner. You are going to lay out a Sun-Wheel. Place the Sun card in the middle, then place 8 cards around the outside, as if the cards were the numbers on the face of a clock, with the Sun in the middle where the hands would be. (Picture a clock, and place the cards at the numbers 12, 3, 6, and 9; between the 1 and 2; between the 4 and 5; between the 7 and 8; and between the 10 and 11.)
Now, lay out 2 more cards out from the original 8 cards, like the rays of the sun.
The top cards (where the 12 would be on our imaginary clock) represent what you consciously send out to the world.
The next 3 cards (going clockwise) represent your masculine qualities.
The 3 cards at the number 3 position on our clock represent what is possible for you to accomplish.
The next 3 cards represent your conscious mind and the actions you do consciously.
The rays at the bottom of the spread, (where the 6 would be on our clock) reresent what you receive from the world.
The next 3 cards represent your subconscious.
The 3 cards at the left, (where the 9 would be on the clock) represent the events that have had the most influence in your life, that have shaped you into the person you are today.
The last 3 cards represent your feminine qualities.
This should give you some insights into your own Sun -- your personality.
ALTERNATE ASSIGNMENT:
Take out the Sun card, tell us what deck you are using, then describe the symbols and what they mean to you. How does the Sun make you feel? Does it energize you and make you want to go out and play? Or does it make you feel lethargic and sleepy? Relate how the Sun makes you feel to the symbols on the card.
