ISDN Information The reason I have put a web page for ISDN, is because this is the type of line I had previous to my SDSL line. A typical ISDN line runs at 64kbps..this speed is obtained by having two seperate B channels (32kbps each) and combining them together...this line is digital and can hold voice as well as data through the same line at the same time...the voice is carried on a D channel that runs at 16kbps but this has no influence on the speed of the data. A higher speed and more expensive version of ISDN is the 128kbps. These speeds can be obtained by combining 4 B channels (32kbps each) and two D channels (16kbps each). There is a third and even more expensive ISDN.. this IDSN runs at 1.5mbps by taking 24 32kbps B channels and 2 D channels and combining them into one closed circuit...this form is called the ISDN LAN. |
