By the time Jason, Sonny, and Luke got to the apartment, Lucky was lying back on the couch, with his feet propped up on the table, and Emily was pacing back and forth, muttering to herself.
''Emily?''
''Oh, Jason, thank God!'' she exclaimed, running to him.
''Are you okay?'' he asked, concerned.
''N-not really...'' she admitted, pulling back from the comforting embrace. ''Dorman's alive!'' she blurted out.
Shocked, disbeliving eyes met her own...
''It's true...'' she continued, knowing what they were thinking. ''I'm not crazy...''
''No one think's you're crazy, Emily...'' Jason assured her gently.
''But you don't believe me.'' she accused. ''Ask Lucky. He knows. He has the evidence; Helena has him..."
''She's right, guys.'' he informed them quietly. ''Apparently Helena wants to run a halfway-house for Port Charles' undead...'' he remarked dryly. ''Woman should really get a new hobby...''
Jason rolled his eyes; Lucky was definately starting to develop Luke's sense of humor...
''Omigod!'' Emily started, jumping up frantically.
''What? What is it?'' Sonny asked, concerned.
'''Member how Matt was Dorman's godson, and worked for him?'' she asked in a fearful near-whisper.
''Matt?'' Luke echoed, confused.
''Reynolds.'' Lucky supplied. ''He was the b@stard that laced her joint when---''
"That doesn't matter now.'' Emily interupted impatiently. ''The first night, when I first tried smack... There were these two guys there; Jake and Ted Timmors...''
Luke perked up at sudden recognition of the names...
''They were brothers or cousins or something...'' she continued. ''Anyways, we heard someone coming; or, rather, they did, and they dragged me off---''
''Wait... what do you mean, 'dragged you off'?'' Lucky asked, straightening in concern.
''Into the bushes, and walked me home.'' she shrugged. ''I mean, yeah, they were wasted, so, natch, they got a bit... over-friendly---''
'''Over-friendly'?'' Jason echoed, narrowing his eyes.
''So... they were a bit grabby... I handled it...'' she mumbled, her eyes downcast.
''Grabby how?'' he demanded.
''Jase---''
''Tell me.'' he insisted.
''Fine... I don't remember which was which that night; I was pretty out of it... Out of it hell, I was in awe of the 'bigness of the sky'... But, one of 'em kept trying to put his hands in my pockets, and the other kept trying to put his arm around me so he could... Well, it doesn't matter now, anyways...'' she broke off, flushed. ''The only reason I even brought 'em up was that... what if they were working for Dorman, too? What if they still are?'' she sqeaked.
Luke's eyes grew wide and he stood up in anger.
''Damn... I got a coupla busboys to... deal with...'' he rasped, turning to go.
''Wait... they work for you?'' Jason asked in shock.
''Not for long.'' Luke clipped out.
''Let's go.'' Jason said evenly, grabbing his jacket & clenching his fists as he stalked out, followed by a seething Luke, Sonny, and Lucky...
Nikolas embarked upon the yacht, where his grandmother and uncle were waiting for him.
''You called?'' he asked.
''Yes, Nikolas... our plans are falling into place excellently... Have you started formulating things from your end?''
''Of course, Grandmother... They'd never suspect me..."
Emily looked around Jason's apartment, and a feeling of tiredness washed over her. She was supposed to be rid of Dorman by now... Yet, here she was, staying with her brother for 'safekeeping'...
Shaken out of her reverie by a soft knock on the door, she bounced up and answered it.
''This package got sent here for you...'' Johnny smiled.
''Thanks, Johnny.'' she smiled back, taking the package from him. ''Where are the guys, do ya know?''
''Still in a meeting next-door... I gotta go there now...''
"Oh, okay...''
After the door was shut, she started opening the package...
Just as Johnny stepped into the apartment, they could hear a blood-curtling scream from Jason's penthouse! It was immediately followed by the sound of stuff breaking, and a string of curses they didn't know she even knew...
When they got to her, she was huddled in a ball on the floor, sobbing. Jason rushed to her immediately, gathering her into his arms and shushing her gently.
''S'allright, Em... You're gonna be okay...''
''No! I'm not okay! He can get to me! Just like before!''
''What?'' Lucky asked worriedly.
''He has ways; he must have. He sent me a package... Before, I don't know how, but he got my diary... He's evil... He's going to hurt me, I know it...'' she cried, throwing herself into Jason's shoulder.
''Shhhh... shhh... I'll protect you, I promise... We all will, honey...'' Jason vowed, rubbing her back soothingly.
Lucky reached out and gently caressed her hair, fighting back the tears as he could feel her body racking with sobs...
A little while later, Lucky carried her upstairs, and stayed with her so that she could go to sleep... The rest of the men went next door...
''Johnny!'' Sonny said sharply.
''Yes?'' Johnny said apprehensively. He didn't like the look in his boss' eyes...
''Who gave you that package for Emily?'' he snapped.
''Uh, UPS?'' he shrugged.
~''Que sera, sera... whatever will be, will be...'' burned through her brain, over and over again, in a twisted rythym.. Suddenly, his face was up close to hers, as he held her arms tightly, making her acutely aware of the coldness of the morgue wall...
''You will die, you little harlott...'' he spat. ''And, perhaps your mother won't be able to go on, after watching her baby girl die?''~
''No!'' she screamed, shooting straight up in bed.
''Shhh... Shhh... Just a dream...'' Lucky soothed, folding her into his embrace.
''Don't let him?''
''No, I won't let him near you...'' he promised.
But, deep in the back of his mind, he prayed that was a promise he could keep...
