Prologue

The young girl put on the much-played CD once again. It was a ritual with the 16-year-old. The only time she could hear her parent's voices. Her father had dedicated this CD to her, and even written a song for her, and for her mother. The rest were lullabye-type songs. Her mother had sung background or duet on most, and even one solo. They had died on the way to the first concert, when she was 2-months-old. She picked up their wedding-photograph, the only formal picture with the 3 of them all-together and smiled wryly.

''Mommy, Papi, why can't you be here now?'' she sighed.

This was all she had, pictures and the old songs. No real memories them talking to her, no real recollection of their faces...

''Lil? Ya ready for school yet?''

Sighing, she put the photograph down.

''Comin', Uncle Jase!'' she called.

Somehow, she promised herself. Somehow, she'd have more than just... whispered lullabyes...

Chapter One

Christopher Robin and I walked along,
under branches lit up by the moon.
Posing our questions to Owl and Eeyore,
as our days disappeared oft too soon.
But, I've wandered much further
today than I should,
and, I can't seem to find my way back to the wood.

Emily woke up in the hotel-room, completely unsure of where she was. The last thing she remembered was getting on a plane with---

''Juan! Juan, are you here?'' she called, upset.

Getting no answer, she went to the bathroom to take a shower. Looking in the mirror she was completely shocked...

''What... what... happened to me?! I'm... old!''

Falling to the floor, she fell into a hysterical sobbing fit...

Help me if you can,
I've gotta get back to the
house at Pooh Corner by one.
You'd be surprised, there's so much to be done.
Count all the bees in the hive,
chase all the clouds from the sky.
(Chase the clouds away)
Back to the days of Christopher Robin
and Pooh.

Taking deep breaths and deciding to calm herself, she pulled herself up by the sink and threw some cold water on her face. Still no change.

''D@mn...'' she whispered, perplexed. ''I'd better called Jason...'' she decided.

Grabbing the phone, she dialed his cellphone number, only to be told it was out of service.

"That's weird...'' she muttered.

Sighing heavily, she tried the penthouse, happy when that was still ringing.

''Morgan.'' she heard him say after only three rings.

''Oh, Jason! Thank God!''

''Who is this?'' he asked suspiciously.

''Your sister... Emily.'' she retorted sarcastically, making a face at the phone.

''Look, I don't know what kind of a sick joke this is,'' he began angrily, ''but my sister's been dead for 16 years!''

Winnie the Pooh doesn't know what to do,
got a honey-jar stuck on his nose.
He came to me asking help and advice,
from here no one knows where he goes.
So, I sent him to ask of the Owl,
if he's there, how to loosen a jar
from the nose of a bear.

''WHAT?! I'm not dead! And, I certainly didn't die when I was two! Jase, what's going on, here?! Everything is so bizarro...'' she sobbed.

Jason froze suddenly. It sure sounded like Em... What if... But, why wouldn't she come back? Wait... she said when she was...

''E-mily?'' he asked, his voice suddenly raspy.

''Yes!'' she answered, happy that someone finally understood.

''How do I know it's really you?'' he challenged. ''I mean, it sounds like you, but...''

Sighing heavily, she realized this day was just getting progressively more bizarro...

''Okay.'' she agreed. ''I'll tell ya something only the two of us would know about...''

Help me if you can,
I've gotta get back to the
house at Pooh Corner by one.
You'd be surprised, there's so much
to be done.
Count all the bees in the hive,
chase all the clouds from the sky.
(chase the clouds away)
Back to the days of Christopher Robin
and Pooh.

''On my wedding day, you gave me a rosary, with blue stones, and said it was for good luck, and then you sang Lilly to sleep with a Beach Boys song...''

Jason stopped cold; no one had been in that room with them...

''Emily...'' he sighed. ''Where are you?'' he asked urgently.

''I... I don't know...'' she cried, looking around the room.

It's hard to explain how a few precious things
seem to follow throughout all our lives.
After all's said and done,
I was watching my son,
sleeping there with my bear by his side.
So, I tucked him in,
I kissed him,
and as I was goin',
I'd swear that old bear whispered,
''Boy, welcome home.''

''Em, calm down.'' he instructed gently. ''Look around you; is there a phonebook or somethin'? A matchbook maybe?''

''Phonebook?'' she echoed. ''Uh... lemme check...''

Looking all around, she finally found one on the nightstand.

''Sleep Easy Motel... Chicago...''

Believe me if you can,
I've finally come back to the
house at Pooh Corner by one.
And, what do you know,
there's so much to be done.
Count all the bees in the hive,
chase all the clouds from the sky.
(chase the clouds away)
Back to the days of Christopher Robin.
(back to the days)
Back to the ways of Christopher Robin.
(back to the ways)
Back to the days of Pooh.
Oooooh.
Oooooh...

Chapter Two

Emily pulled the pink sundress over her head and looked in the mirror in shock. Glancing down at her breasts, her eyes widened in horror.

''Geez... man-made hooters?'' she sighed. ''What's going on?''

Suddenly, she heard a knock at the door.

''Jason?'' she asked timidly.

''Yeah, Em... open the door.'' he said, a tinge of nervousness to his voice.

Throwing the door wide, she ran to it, surprised at how different he looked.

''Jason?''

''Em...'' he breathed, pulling her into a tight embrace and swinging her around. ''Oh, God...'' he sighed, his voice raspy with unshed tears. ''Where... where have you been?''

Pulling back, she looked at him with an utter blankness in his eyes.

''What are you talking about?! Why do we look so... different?! What's going on?!'' she hollered, tears of frustration now streaming dow her cheeks. ''The last thing I remember is getting on a plane with Juan... and then I woke up here...'' she finnished softly.

Jason's eyes softened in sympathy and understanding. ''Emily... that plane crashed...'' he said gently, brushing the hair away from her face.

''C-crashed?'' she echoed, backing away.

''Emily, that was 16 years ago. Don't you remember?''

Emliy mutely shook her head, backing away until she hit the floor, wrapping her arms around herself, and rocking back and forth with tears flowing freely down her cheeks.

Grabbing her by the arms firmly, Jason made her look into his face. ''Emily... Things have changed... A lot can happen in 16 years...''

''Lilly? My baby?'' she asked helplessly.

''Your baby's fine.'' he assured. ''I've been raising her... She's 16 now.''

''16?''

''Yeah...'' taking a deep breath, he steeled himself to tell her the rest.

''What else have I missed?'' she asked ruefully. ''How could I have lost 16 years?'' she asked in shock.

''It can happen.'' Jason said pointedly, remembering the way that he felt, waking up in that hospital room, Monica and Alan trying to tell him who he was, not realizing he was no longer that person... ''Emily, you're not 18 anymore. You know that, right?''

''Yeah... I know...'' she rasped out softly.

Rubbing her back soothingly as she nestled into his shoulder, he decided he should prepare for what she'd face when she came home.

''The Q's are dead.'' he blurted out.

''WHAT?!''

''Well, all except for AJ and Micheal.'' he amended. ''We're friends now...'' he admitted.

''You and AJ?'' she repeated, surprised.

''Well, when he started coming out a lot, visiting Micheal and such... And, then when he took over ELQ, we did business together... It just sorta happened...''

''Wow...'' was all she could say.

''Is there anything else I should know?'' she asked timidly.

''Uh, maybe you'd better get us a couple of drinks...'' he advised...

Chapter Three

Baby sneezes, Mommy pleases,
Daddy breezes in.
So good on paper,
so romantic.
But, so bewildering.

I know nothin' stays the same,
but, if you're willing to play the game,
it's comin' around again
So, don't mind if I fall apart,
there's more room than a broken heart.
(broken heart)

Tony Spencer looked at his girlfriend, asleep on his chest, and sighed. No one would be home for hours, and her uncle was off on business or something, and made it sound like he'd be gone for a day or two...

He and Lilly rarely got this much time alone together, not without one or the other's realatives barging in. His father wasn't really one for rules, but... he almost had a coronary when he found out they were having sex. Lucky pretty much just decided to leave it at ''I don't wanna know.'' sorta attitude, though. Her Uncle Jason, on the other hand... well, he didn't want to know what would happen if he found out... he was just a tad on the overprotective side...

Pay the grocer,
ya fix the toaster,
ya kiss the host goodbye.
And, you break a window,
(burn)
burn a souflee,
(scream)
scream a lullabye.

I know nothin' stays the same,
but, if you're willing to play the game,
it's comin' around again.
So, don't mind if I fall apart,
there's more room than a broken heart.

Jason looked at his baby-sister as she lay sleeping, her head in his lap. He never thought he'd have her back again...

''What have you been through?'' he wondered silently, brushing her bangs back gently.

For her to have lost so many years... it scared him to think of what she'd been through, what had happened to her in all that time... and how would she adjust to a home so different?

And, I believe in love.
But, what else can I do?
I'm so in love with you.
I know nothin' stays the same,
but, if you're willing to play the game,
it's comin' around again.

Baby sneezes,
(I believe in love)
Mommy pleases,
(I believe in love)
Daddy breezes in.
(I believe in love)
I know nothin' stays the same,
(I believe in love)
But, if you're willing to play the game,
(I believe in love)
it will be coming around again.

''Hey, lover...'' Lilly murmured, kissing his neck gently.

''Hmmmm...'' Tony moaned almost inaudibly. ''Are you sure it's safe to stay the night?'' he asked her, his eyes still closed.

''Yeah.'' she said, straightening up and leaning on her elbow. ''Uncle Jason left me a note that said he wouldn't be back until tomorrow.'' she assured him.

''Okay, good.'' he grinned, giving her a gentle peck on the mouth.

''What about your family, though? Ruby Rose and Lucky?''

''Eh, what'd they care? You've spent the night before.''

''With your sister, yeah. But, not since we've started... ya know...''

''Oh... well... they still won't care.'' he said dismissively.

''Okay...'' she said, though still quirking a disbeliving eyebrow at him.

The itsy bitsy spider climbed up the water- spout,
down come the rain, and washed the spider out.
Out come the sun, and dried up all the rain,
and the itsy bitsy spider climbed up the spout again.
The itsy bitsy spider climbed up the water-spout.
Down come the rain, and washed the spider out.
Out come the sun, and dried up all the rain,
and the itsy bitsy spider climbed up the spout again.

And, I believe in love.
Now, who knows where or when,
but it's comin' around again.
The itsy bitsy spider climbed up the water-spout.
Down come the rain, and washed the spider out.
Out come the sun, and dried up all the rain,
and the itsy bitsy spider climbed up the spout again.
I know nothin' stays the same,
(the itsy bitsy spider)
but, if you're willing to play the game,
(the itsy bitsy spider)
it's comin' around again.
(the itsy bitsy spider)

Though he knew in the back of his mind he couldn't take responsibilty for the way things turned out, he couldn't help but feel... what was it? Guilt? Remorse maybe? Sad for the way things could have been--- the way things should have been?

It had nearly killed him when he lost her. He felt so... helpless, so lost... But, he'd had Lilly to think about... Lilly! How would she react to this? No matter what, he felt as though he was powerless. As though fate had been ripped from his hands. Lilly would probably be confused, and maybe even scared. He knew instinctively he couldn't take that away. And Emily... it had been his job to protect her, and he'd... failed... Heaven only knew what she'd been through, and he didn't even know about it... she couldn't even tell him... Hell, she might never even remember herself...

Itsy bitsy spider.
The itsy bitsy spider.
The itsy bitsy spider.
The itsy bitsy spider.
The itsy bitsy spider climbed up the water-spout.
(comin' around again)
Down come the rain, and washed the spider out.
(comin' around again)
Out come the sun, and dried up all the rain,
and the itsy bitsy spider, climbed up the spout again.
The itsy bitsy spider.
The itsy bitsy spider.
The itsy bitsy spider.
The itsy bitsy spider.
Comin' around again...
