Just yesterday morning,
they let me know you were gone.
Suzanne, the plans they made
put an end to you.
I walked out this morning,
and I wrote down this song.
Just can't remember who to send it to.
Emily walked into Luke's office, disappointed to find it empty. She had hoped to talk to him about this problem with the Cassadines... Considering the fact that he knew them better than anybody...
''Hey, sweetie.'' Luke said, surprised, as he came in. ''What can I do ya for?''
''Luke, I need your help...'' she began seriously.
I've seen fire and I've seen rain.
I've seen sunny days that I thought
would never end.
I've seen lonely times when
I could not find a friend.
But, I always thought that
I'd see you again.
''Little girl, you don't need to be worrying your pretty little head about Helena Cassadine. In fact, you need to stay the hell away from her.'' he stated firmly.
''Luke, this is my family.'' she said just as firmly. ''I... I have to protect them; because I just don't think they can do it themselves anymore!'' she admitted reluctantly. ''And, no one knows Stefan or Helena better than you do...'' she added with a sly grin.
''Stop tryin' to butter me up; I'll help, I'll help...'' he grinned, defeated. ''Seems awful odd them teaming up together, though...''
Won't ya look down upon
me Jesus?
Ya gotta help me make a stand.
Just gotta see me through another day.
My body's achin',
and my time is at hand.
And, I won't make it any other way.
After going over ideas for a while, Emily decided she should probably go...
''Goin' to see that boyfriend of yours?'' he teased.
''Nah; we broke up two days ago...'' she admitted, looking down at her shoes.
''Awww, sorry, babe...''
''Thanks, Luke.'' she said, hugging him impulsively.
As she pulled back from him, they realized the proximity of their faces, but did not move, rather seeming to be paralyzed by the intense look in each-other's eyes...
Whoa, I've seen fire,
and I've seen rain.
Seen sunny days that I thought
would never end.
I seen lonely times
when I could not find a friend.
But, I always thought that I'd
see you again.
The next thing she knew, Luke pulled her to him for a searing kiss... Falling to the ground with him, their kisses became harder, more insistant... Groping, practically tearing off each-other's clothes, in a raw, animalistic moment of unexplainable passion...
Been walkin' my mind to an easy time,
my back turned towards the sun.
Lord knows when the cold wind
blows it'll turn your head around.
Well, there's hours of time on the
telephone line to talk about things to come.
Sweet dreams and fine machines
in pieces on the ground.
Emily got up, began buttoning her blouse with shaking hands.
''You okay?'' he asked, putting a gentle hand on her trembling shoulder. ''I didn't hurt ya?''
''N-no... it's just... Was this bad?'' she asked, her lip trembling slightly.
''Naw, honey...'' he assured. ''This was just... it wasn't wrong...'' he finnished.
''I should really go now...'' she said, still confused and a bit shaky from the shock of it all.
''What happened?'' she thought. ''Did I really just do that with... Luke?''
Shaking her head, she was so lost in thought she didn't even see the leather-jacket-clad man she bumped into before it was too late...
''Oh, I'm sor--- Jason?''
Whoa, I've seen fire
and I've seen rain.
I've seen sunny days
that I thought would
never end.
I seen lonely times
when I could not find
a friend.
But, I've always thought
that I'd see you baby,
one more time again now.
Thought I'd see you,
thought I'd see you
this time again.
There's just a few things
comin' my way this time around.
Thought I'd see you,
thought I'd see you fire and rain now...
Emily's eyes got wide with happiness, and she actually produced the first genuine smile in weeks.
Jason threw his arms around Emily in a huge bear-hug. ''I missed you, Em.'' he said, with a small smile on his face.
''I'm so glad you're here, are you going to stay?'' she added hurriedly. She didn't want to get her hopes up; she'd been hurt too much in the past.
''Yeah, I'm back.'' he said with a shrug.
Emily's smile returned.
''How is Grandmother?'' and as a second thought added, ''And Monica?''
''Grandmother is fine; she missed you alot. Mom... well, her and Dad are at war... again, and I haven't seen much of her lately.'' she added sadly.
Jason looked at her with concern. ''Well, I'm back now so if you need me, I'll be here... What were you doing at Luke's, anyway?''
Emily's eyes got big for a minute, which did not go unnoticed by Jason... She had forgotten for a moment what had happened between her and Luke, and there was no way she was going to tell Jason the truth; he'd kill Luke. She had to think quickly...
''Uhhhh, I was actually, looking for Lucky...'' then, she thought about it; Jason had no idea Lucky was alive. ''Oh, yeah... Since you've been away, Lucky was found; he was kidnapped by Ceaser Faison, not killed in that fire...'' she explained.
Jason's eyes lit up. ''I'm really happy for you... I know Lucky was your best friend; you must be thrilled...''
''I am...'' she nodded.
''What about Juan?''
Emily's eyes got suddenly dark. ''Juan and I broke up two days ago; he became a singer, and the other day I found him in bed with some groupie.'' she finished sadly.
''I never liked him; he wasn't good enough for you.'' Jason added.
''Thanks...'' she said softly.
Just then, Luke came out of his office and saw Emily talking to some guy. ''Oh, ****,'' he thought, ''it's Jason...'' He was going to kill him. Luke turned around, about to hide out in his office again, when he heard Jason from across the room.
''Luke.''
At least it was friendly; Jason didn't know yet. Thank God for small favors...
Luke started jovially. ''Jason, my friend, long time no see... Are you back?''
Emily cast her eyes down in guilt; Luke was eyeing her, and Jason was wondering what the tension between the two was about.
''Yeah, I'm back... I heard about Lucky; congratulations.''
''Thank you.'' he said, still distracted by Emily.
''Something is going on...'' Jason thought. And, he was going to find out.
As Luke continued to stare at Emily, Emily continued to stare at the ground...
Emily stepped into the confessional-booth, pulling out her rosary, and kneeling down.
"Forgive me father, for I have sinned." she softly murmured, holding her rosary and making the sign of the cross.
"When was your last confession?" the soothing voice from the other side of the shade asked.
"Five days ago."
"And, what is your sin, my child?"
"I have given in to... impure impulses with... with my best-friend's father." she admitted. "He's my brother's friend, and that could definately put a strain on that... Not to mention the fact that he and his son, my best friend, are having strained relations at this time as well... He's always been a good friend, too... Until yesterday, we never even considered such things... What have I done?" she whispered, choking back a sob.
Emily walked for hours after confessional, not really sure what she should do... It was now about midnight, and she saw that Luke's hadn't closed yet...
"Maybe I should talk to him..." she thought, walking inside.
When she got there, she saw that Luke was alone, sitting at a corner of the bar, nursing a glass of scotch.
"Luke?"
"Oh, uh... hey, Emily..." he said, not bothering to look up.
"Hi." she answered, giving him a small smile. "Luke, we... we need to talk, don't we?"
"Talkin's what got us into this, won't it?" he grinned ruefully.
"Luke... I... I want to know what this means now..."
"Means?"
"I don't want to think I did... that for nothing, Luke. I mean, did it mean anything?"
"Oh, babe..." he sighed, coming forward.
"That's not answer." she snapped, backing away.
"Why... why don't we play it by ear for now, and see what happens? I know you're lookin' for some big commitment, some big, open thing, but we both know that ain't a good idea right now for either of us." he quickly added, seeing the hurt look on her face. "I... I'd like the chance to try..."
"So would I..." she admitted softly. "Will you... will you dance with me?"
"Now you're talkin'..." he grinned, flicking the remote towards the CD-player...
You're struttin' into town like you're slingin' a gun,
just a small-town dude with a big-city attitude.
Well, honey, are ya lookin' for some trouble tonight?
Well, alright.
Ya think you're so bad, drivin' women-folk wild,
shoot 'em all down with a flash of your pretty smile.
Honey, well, you met your match tonight.
Oh, that's right.
You think you'll knock me off my feet,
till I'm flat on the floor.
Till my heart is crying "Indian",
and I'm beggin' for more.
Well, come on baby,
come on baby,
come baby show me what that loaded gun is for.
If you can give it, I can take it.
'Cause if this heart is gonna break,
it's gonna take alot to break it.
'Cause I know, tonight,
somebody's gonna win the fight.
So, if you're so tough,
come on and prove it.
Your heart is down for the count,
and you know you're gonna loose it.
Tonight you're gonna go down in flames,
Just like Jesse James.
You're an outlaw lover and I'm after your hide,
well, you ain't so strong;
won't be long till your hands are tied.
Tonight, I'm gonna take you in dead or alive.
That's right.
They swayed softly to the music, his hands making lazy circles on her hips. Emily stiffened slightly as they slid down to cup her rear, but quickly relaxed and allowed them to rest there, finding herself now actually responding in time to his gentle grinding...
You break the laws of love in the name of desire,
take a chance, step back, cause I'm ready baby;
aim and fire.
Baby, there's no way you're gonna run tonight,
ooooh that's right.
Well, you had to work with nothin',
it's the end of the day.
Now, a team of wild horses couldn't drag
your heart away.
So, come on baby,
come on baby,
come on baby, you know
there ain't nothin' left to say.
If you can give it,
I can take it.
Cause, if this heart is gonna break,
it's gonna take a lot to break it.
I know tonight, somebody's gonna win the fight.
So, if you're so tough, come on and prove it.
Your heart is down for the count,
and you know you're gonna loose it.
Tonight you're gonna go down in flames,
just like Jesse James.
Think you'll knock me off my feet,
till I'm flat on the floor,
till my heart is cryin' "indian",
and I'm beggin' for more.
So, come on baby,
come on baby,
come on baby,
come on.
If you can give it,
I can take it.
Cause if this heart is gonna break,
it's gonna take alot to break it.
And, I know tonight, somebody's gonna
win the fight.
So, if you're so tough,
come on and prove it.
Your heart is down for the count,
and you know you're gonna loose it.
Tonight you're gonna go down in flames,
just like Jesse James.
Tonight you're gonna go down in flames,
just like Jesse James.
Tonight you're gonna go down in flames,
just like Jesse James.
I'm gonna shoot ya down Jesse James...
As Luke began to nuzzle her neck gently, they didn't hear the slight creak of the door opening...
"What the hell is going on?!"
"Um... hey, Jason..." Emily squeaked, her eyes growing huge.
"What the hell is going on?" he repeated in a growl.
"Look, now, Morgan---"
"Don't bullsh*t me, Luke! I wanna know and I wanna know now!"
What none of the trio noticed was the door opening a second time, and Lucky stepping through...
"Well, it could've been worse!" Emily snapped. "At least you didn't walk in on us doing it like yes--- Um, I mean..." she tried throwing her hands over her mouth in horror. "Why the hell did I just say that?!" she thought, her heart sinking to her belly.
"WHAT?!" Jason & Lucky exclaimed.
