She was born in Detroit Michigan. At the age of 15, she left and went to New York City. After 7 years in NYC she went to Los Angeles, and preformed in many theatrical productions. She also preformed as a back-up singer for Natalie Cole and Anita Baker. March of 1994 Boyd was cast as Celeste.
