Ric Flair Facts
Real Name: Richard Morgan Fliehr
Birthdate: February 25, 1949
From: Charlotte, NC (orginally from a suburb of Minneapolis, MN)
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 240
Entrance Music: "Also Sprach Zarathustra," which is a movement of a classical
piece by German composer Richard Strauss.
Sightings: Flair has been sighted by ESPN at a couple of Chicago Blackhawks
games. He had also been "honorary coach" the night Wake Forest defeated
Clemson in basketball.
In 1996, Kevin Greene, then with the Carolina Panthers, sacked Atlanta Falcons,
quarterback, Jeff George (thank goodness he's gone) for the second time, did the
strut and pointed up into the area of the stadium where Flair was.
On more than one occasion, he has attended Florida Gators games and has been
seen by people on RSPW as well as by my former 8th-grade science teacher.
Flair attended the University of Minnesota, and played offensive guard on the
football team for a couple of years. He has also earned some accolades as an
amateur wrestler.
(From Robert Diorio) In 1990 the NWA, AWA, and WWF considered at three-way
unification match, pitting Hogan vs. Flair vs. Zbyszko. The WWF backed out
because the AWA and NWA wanted Flair to win.
Flair participated in the last double world-title matches. On July 4, 1982, in the
Omni, (it was a great arena...) he faced Bob Backlund (WWF) for the belt.
Double-countout. In 1984, in Japan, he faced Rick Martel (AWA) for the belt.
Result? Double-countout.
At 12:00, starting January 1, 1998, two streaks ended. #1: Flair has held the
world title in every year since 1981 (when he first beat Rhodes.
#2: He had held a title in every year since 1974, when he first held one.
In every Starrcade Flair's participated in, he's been in the main event.
His first known victory came in 1973, defeating John Heidmann. That also started
his first win streak, 2 in a row.
Also "graduating" from Gagne's wrestling school with Flair are: Iron Sheik, Jim
Brunzell, Ken Patera (?), and Chris Taylor (?)
