I first visited the Scilly's in Easter this year
(2000) with my friend from Uni, Tom Pocock. Tom has
been going here for a few years on holiday. I was
intrigued by his love of the place, which from the way
he described it, is similar to my own love of the lake
district. So, both in need of a holiday we journed to
pay the Isles of Scillys a visit. At first I was
amused by Toms "its just sooo good to be here"
attitude but after a few days this place was occupying
a similar place in my heart as the Lake District.
I
don't know if it is silly falling in love with a
place. It is certainly a funny feeling to describe.
University is an amazing and fantasic place, but it
just lacks something special... I don't know. And the
Scillys and The Lakes, for me have this special
something. maybe it is the people I went with, or
maybe the things we did. It can't be the weather coz that
was always damp to say the least!
