The leading character is Gene Starwind. With his partner Jim, they run a repair shop on Centennial III but when their money runs out, they do crazy things to earn more. For instance, they hired themselves out to Hilda as bodyguards. Their job was to protect her from pursuing space pirates.

Their life was no longer simple after that job. On their adventure throughout the galaxy, the duo picks up traveling companions and all with their own agenda. Some seek revenge, others to forget their pasts, and another to find it. Throughout this time, they make some of the most powerful enemies in the galaxy.
