Wedding Benediction

*This ceremony was taken from the book 'Rites Of Darkness', a tome written long ago by elders for use in formal Camerilla observances, and was read at the wedding of Yvonne D’Nord and William Blair of Ventrue by the Toredor, Father Buck.

"Brothers and sisters bound through Cain, I welcome you to this intricate ceremony. We Kindred gather to fight, accuse, and kill. Why must our rich blood stain the ground at every meeting? Why do we never speak of the joys brought to us by the very action of our embrace? True, eternal night has its struggles, yet we are powerful, artful creatures, created by midnight, born into dark legacy.

However, do not forget that we were once fragile beings, threatened by Death’s hand. Lo, we have become more than that, though we still retain the passions and persistence of that long-ago mortality. Tonight, sheltered by Elyseium, we celebrate and remember that strongest of emotions; love.

Children of Cain, we are here present to witness as Yvonne D’Nord and William Blair of Clan Ventrue are bound into an eternity of night. Thus, we wind this silken cord around their hands, binding their souls, binding their destinies. This tie is not of cruel, imprisoning iron, nor cold, guilded stone, but of living cloth, true and constant.

This is no mortal marriage; fleeting and temporary, but a union by two who walk in the eternal and ever-loving shadow of midnight. Time is theirs to service or squander; and they shall not fail nor fall until the ranks of absolute Death advance upon them and they are silenced. So it has been, so it is, so shall it ever be. Yet, if be there here any person who has honest word against this union, let them say what they would, or never speak it again.

~ Yvonne D’Nord of Clan Ventrue, childer of your sire, do you take William Blair to love eternally through the winds of fate and time?

~ William Blair of Clan Ventrue, childer of your sire, do you take Yvonne D’Nord to love eternally through the winds of fate and time? From these cups, I bid you each drink and partake of the other’s blood, the vitae of you bodies to join your souls. By the power vested in me by the Prince and elders of your city, I do hereby pronounce you joined in marriage."
