Dear Anya and Lord Carlos,
Hi. Um, that nice lady who’s all big and yells and knows a lot told me that if I write a letter to you guys and give it to Eternus to put it in her magic thing that she’d send it and it would get to you, but no one knows how. How are you doing? I’m fine. I guess you guys are lost in the land where spice comes from too.
Ok, so, um, there was a thing, and it was all special, and Zane said that I hadda be all dressed up, so I was. See, this one guy, he was evil and stuff, and he made this other guy be on fire, and then Zane hadda stake him so he wouldn’t kill no one else. The Tremere was dead, but not all the way, so they put him in the closet in the basement at the orphanage, and Josie’s lover, that little Caitiff, he called the lady to come and save everybody, ‘cause the other Tremeres were gonna come and blow us up.
That’s what the party was and how come we were at the Prince’s place. Guess what, his name is William just like our old Prince back in York, you know, the guy that got killed by the big demon and stuff. I sneaked in behind Zane, and we were all scumping around and talking. Not a lot of people knew that lady was coming, ‘cause everyone said that it was gonna be a good party. I talked with the Prince-man and his wife and she’s from Gaul.
Then all of the sudden I started hearing that someone was talking to me, but there was not a person there when I turned ‘round. But anyway I went to the meeting room like the no-one voice told me to. That lady, Gabrielle, was there, ‘cause I was supposed to find out stuff for her, and you know what, I remembered that I knowed her from somewhere, and it was from that time when I was fighting in that war.
Anyway, we were all talking and everything, and there were a lot of people at the Prince’s house, but most of them I’d never met before. Jeremy, the big ol’ Gangrel, he was there, and also Daryl, that guy who can’t talk right. Trent with the hair was talking with Monique, the girl who screams and faints all the time, and the man who Josie doesn’t like was skulking around.
The Prince-man knew that Gabrielle was there, and he was letting her talk to people ‘bout what they knew ‘bout the Tremere. We all had to be quiet and not be Kindred, ‘cause there was a mortal in the house and stuff, and he might kill us all if he knew what everyone was. I did a good job and I was being very secret. You guys know what? Monique’s not a whore, and she’s not a slut neither, but she does get paid to be naked, on account of ‘cause she’s a model or something.
I got this s’plained to me, ‘long with a whole bunch of other stuff that I didn’t understand, and most of it, I forgot. There was also this guy there, and he was real tall, and he was loud and funny and really friendly, and there was a Mr. White-shirt there, and he was mortal, but it was Ok, ‘cause he gave me a candy. This girl was there, really scared, and she had a baby fox for a pet. Josie had a date with Bastian, so she didn’t come.
Then Gabrielle called everyone to come into the meeting room. We went and she got all mad all of the sudden, and yelled at us in our city ‘cause we were bad. The not-dead Tremere who was caught in the basement had got eated by Sabbats who are vampire bad guys, and I started crying for Josie and Nancy and all the kids who musta gotten eated too. Gabrielle got all sorry and told me to wait in the other room, and that everything was gonna be Ok.
I guess everyone got in a lot of trouble ‘bout all that, but at least we don’t gotta worry that the bad, evil Tremeres are gonna come and do magic at us. Now we do gotta worry ‘bout the Sabbats coming and eating all us until we’re dead. You know what, when I tell people that you guys are Lasombras, they think that you’re bad and Sabbats too, but I tell them no.
Then Gabrielle hadda go and do other stuff far away, but she told me that I didn’t haveta be upset, ‘cause no one at the orphanage got hurt ‘cept the big ol’ bad Tremere. There’s another one in our city, but she’s all short and stuff, and she works as for that lady, so she’s all right. A lot of stuff was going on. People were all getting in fights outside, or at least, I think so.
Hey Anya, you know how you told me that when all the big and powerful people go away and talk, that it means bad things are happening, and we should go home before the evil stuff starts? Well, that happened. I think we were all in a whole bunch of danger, but Zane was there, and he can always protect us from Sabbats and Tremeres and monkey-rats. Some people were saying bad words, but I wasn’t.
Soon, a lot of everyone wasn’t there, and I knew for right-well and sure that bad things were happening. Eve came, and she gotted burned by fire and stuff, but she was Ok in a bit and went and talked with Zane. There’s this lady, and her name is Madge, and she’s got Claws like Josie says that Eternus does, and she’s gonna get me a dog or cat if I want a pet.
People started coming back, and the Prince-man was scowling and very angry ‘cause that Mr. White-shirt man who was secretly a mortal found out ‘bout a lotta stuff and he could do things and stuff. He heard from guys that we were Cainites, and then everyone was trying to kill him at once, but I think it didn’t work ‘cause he and these other guys were running around in a car and shooting people. But you know what? Monique’s still not a whore.
Then I was in that room and lots of people were shouting about there being Sabbats outside coming to get us and Madge ran in and said that she saw them. I didn’t want to get eated by them, not at all. Things got all shaky and I fell down, but then I was on the couch and Eve said that I felled asleep and had a bad dream, and there wasn’t anyone coming to get us. I guess she was right, but that mean man who said that he was a Malkavian too, he yelled at me for not knowing for sure what-all was happening and where and when I was. I hope a fungus-monkey bites him in places where Josie would mollywop me on the back of the head for saying in front of the children.
Eve has a lot of friends who are ghosts, but I don’t think she knows Ashenstone, but then, he wasn’t with me, has was back at the orphanage. She says that her kind know everything ‘bout ghosties and such. Now, there was nearly not nobody ‘cept me inside, so I knew that VERY bad things were happening, but I couldn’t go home ‘cause it’s a long way to walk and Sabbats and Tremeres could be out there anywhere and poke me.
The lady that kisses the Prince-man all the time, she’s from Gaul, and she’s a dirty frenchie, but that’s only what Josie says, ‘cause that guy Lasombra who she won’t find told her so. I don’t think I know what a frenchie is for sure, but it can’t be a good thing. Anyway, she came in yelling and the Prince-man was angry and shouting, then everyone that ever was came back in from outside and all was happening. This guy who was mean to me that other time when we were all at the place where there were loud magic minstrels, he asked me to look hard at him to see if he was telling the truth, and I think he was, but my head hurted a lot, so I forget.
The Prince-man called us all to come in and sit in the meeting room. He said that the mortal-man had a magic thing that let other people hear when we were talking ‘bout secret Cainite stuff, and he was gonna tell people. Also, Jeremy and other guys tried to kill William the Prince so he would be doubly dead, but they didn’t. Those three guys were gonna get in trouble, and William was giving them to the mortal sheriffs ‘cause they were bad, but when they get in the sun they’re gonna die. That made me sad.
Eve said not to worry, ‘cause then no one was gonna get hurt. You know what? Nancy and Eve are my best friends here, and I wish they could come with me when I go back to York from this place. Then, all the sheriffs came, and we hadda pretend that we weren’t Cainites or nothin’, so the Prince-man said let’s play Shades, this game where you’re something and people guess. I did a good one, and some people guessed that I was being pretend of Gabrielle, but don’t tell her or she’ll yell.
The Prince-man was real, real mad, and he shouted and said that if people go doing bad stuff, then they’re really gonna get it and all. Those guys who were not nice, they were getting yelled at by the sheriffs, and they’d die soon. You know what? That made me really sad, ‘cause we all Cainites are lucky that we got by being dead the first time, no one needs to get killed again for the end of it. I really wanted to do something, but there was nothing.
Zane was mad too, he stood up and started talking about parts of the Prince-man that I should talk about, and everybody clapped. Then, one of those guys who was taken away for being bad, well, he can back. He had this big ol’ thing that is a bad kind of weapon, and he was gonna kill us all. That mean other Malkavian, he said vomit, and the man did, then Trent staked him. I just KNOW that the Prince-man wanted to kill him and stuff. He said to put the man in the basement. Jeremy came back in, and he got in trouble, but I don’t know what they did with him.
William Prince-man said enough and everyone go back to your haven and don’t be in my house, so Zane said I should go to the orphanage by myself, ‘cause he was taking Eve back to his place ‘cause the mortal-man threw up all over her. I was gonna do all what Zane told me to, honest. But then I was thinking ‘bout that poor guy that was gonna get killed and stuff, and I took out my dagger to get him free, and that mean Ravnos went with me to help. We got through the door, and got the staked man, but then…
