Why is this element important in everyday life?
This element is important in everyday life because it is most commonly used in fluorescent lighting. Another important use is in light towers at airports and airfields because it emits a reddish-orange glow that can be seen from far distances and through fog.
Where is this element found in nature?
What are the properties of the element?
General Characteristics = Krypton is a colorless, odorless gaseous element that makes up a tiny fraction of the earth's atmosphere.
- It is used alone or with argon and neon in incandescent bulbs.
- Krypton emits a characteristic bright, orange-red color in an electric-discharge tube.
- Tubes filled with krypton are used in lighting airfields because the red light is visible or long distances and penetrates fog and haze.

Who is krypton ?
My name is Sir Krypton, and I am one of the 6 noble gases of the Periodic Table. Myself, along with my other knights, fight against the evil forces of the treacherous metalloids and their sidekicks the metals and nonmetals. We are the strongest members in our family and therefore they have turned against us. Because we are colorless and odorless gases we are able to attack our enemies without being detected. Myself, along with my fellow knights, argon and neon, emit a bright, orange-red glow to defer our enemies into a surprise trap. Being one of the heaviest and strongest inert gases, I am often considered the leader of our army.
Being chosen as one of the knights of the Periodic Table was an honor and a privilege because of all 109 elements in our kingdom, only 6 of us were chosen to be knights. We defend our kingdom with honor although we are greatly outnumbered. In our last battle we were able to defeat the metalloids and captured many of the nonmetals. The leader of the metals, Hydrogen, surrendered to us after a surprise attack on their camp left them deprived of electrons.
We then marched on to the castle of King Fluoride, or as my knights like to call him, King Fluoride "The Hog." While my knights to distract the guards I slipped away to confront the King. I found him in the dining hall, eating his evening snack. As we drew our swords he said, " You are no match for me Sir Krypton. For you are a mere knight and I am a King!!" We fought a bitter battle, and just when I thought he had won, I remembered my extra electron ball in my belt. I pulled out the electron and was given the extra strength I needed to defeat King Fluoride.
My men then chose me to be the new King of the Periodic Table. I serve my table well and will someday pass it down to one of the knights of the Periodic Table.
