The Beginning |

Part 1 Written by Nikki (aka Camaro) This is where it all started. Of course like all stories there is no true beginning, there is always another story before that one. A building block for the next tale, for the next life to pick up from. But this is where this individual's life started.....
James and Deborah were newly married and very excited about their new life together. They were very different to say the least. James was an easy-going man. His dreams consisted of making a good living, enough to get by, and to have a family. Deborah on the other hand was an extremely powerful Witch, who came from a long line of Witches. She was the most powerful in her little town. Perhaps even in many realms surrounding that small town. James never knew exactly how strong Deborah's powers were. Maybe Deborah didn't even know but she had an idea. She had a kind heart and always used her powers for the good. She enjoyed helping others with their problems. What she didn't know was that the Lord of the land and his Sorceress were watching Deborah closely.
Well she didn't know this until she was about five months pregnant. She carried two children in her womb and she had an idea of this. She could feel each soul that grew within her. The children she carried intensified her abilities. The Sorceress saw this and increased her watch on the Witch. It was at this point that Deborah felt these unseen eyes watching her. She didn't know exactly who it was but she felt the power that was almost equal to hers. The Sorceress was afraid that Deborah would get too powerful and the Lord commanded her to do something about this "problem." The Sorceress was almost as powerful the only thing she had over Deborah was the fact she dealt with the Black Magicks. The Sorceress found a spell after much digging that would strip Deborah's powers. The spell worked or so the Sorceress thought. What she didn't realize was that Deborah's powers were not able to be taking away, well not completely. The powers that Deborah once possessed had not been taken but shifted down to her unborn children. She felt helpless, trying everything she knew to get her powers back but to no vail. James supported her through her difficult pregnancy. The Sorceress had a plan. Now that Deborah's powers were no longer able to protect her, she was going to kill the children that lived in the woman's womb. The attempts failed leaving the Sorceress dumbfounded. The powers protected the children from any wrongdoing. If it would not have been for this fact Deborah might have lost the children. Her body was weak from carrying the Twins. But after months of being bond to bed she delivered the Twins. It was not an easy delivery but all three did survive. Of course if they did not, then this story would not exist or being told now. Both James and Deborah were ecstatic about their babes. The first born, a boy, who they named Lorenzo. The other was a girl, Camaro. She was smaller and seemed might not make it. But she had a strong will and fought for her life. So it seemed by the same miracle that saved the pregnancy had also saved little Camaro's life.
All was normal for awhile. The Sorceress and the Lord watched over the Twins. They didn't worry since it looked as if they both showed no signs of their Mother's former power. Deborah would tell Lorenzo and Camaro stories about a powerful Witch that helped people. Exciting tales of the Witch's many adventures. Never telling them that she spoke of her past.
When they reached the tender age of six, Deborah began to teach them basic spells that she learned as a child to help bring forth her natural abilities. This worried the Sorceress. Especially since Camaro, now seven started to show signs of Magick. Picking up on other's emotions and sensing presences of others before they were visible. Most of this circled around her family. But either way the Lord wanted the young girl killed for the threat she posed to his land. Well in his mind she was a threat. The Sorceress tried killing off the girl with her spells but yet again the Magick deflected her attempts time and time again. She then decided to kill the Mother since she was the one teaching the girl how to develop her powers. A spell fell upon Deborah making her seriously ill. James called upon healers from many realms to help. None of their herbs or potions could cure her. Her family could only sit by and watch as the woman's health decline. Camaro took care of her, never leaving her bedside. Regardless of all her precautions Deborah's body succumb to the mysterious illness.
After her Mother's death, Camaro pulled away from her family. She would disappear for hours at a time. Not being able to sit in the house that her Mother lost her fight for her life. Her powers were no longer there. The Sorceress thought she had won this battle. But the Lord insisted on killing the girl anyway. If the Lord got his wish she would only live to her current age of eight years. One day, shortly after her Mother died, Camaro ran off to be by herself. She would hide down by a nearby creek where not many would travel. On this particular day she had no idea it would change her life forever. While she was gone the Lord's soldiers invaded their home kidnapping her Father and Brother. Since they were not a threat in his eyes, he forced them to be servants in his castle. But the young girl could not be found. The soldiers questioned both of them of her whereabouts. Of course they said they had no clue. The Lord didn't believe them but what else could he do? Then again James and Lorenzo were telling the truth, they knew Camaro ran off but never knew where to. So in all fairness they were not lying. The Sorceress tried tracking the girl but with Camaro's powers no longer showing, the Sorceress could not tap into the link that was there before. So she could not determine her location either.
When Camaro returned home she saw the mess that was once her home. No one was to be found. She began to panic yelling for her Father and Brother but her shouts fell unanswered. The neighbor, an old maid, heard Camaro's cries and found her in the corner sobbing hysterically. The old woman explained what she had seen. The soldiers ransacking the house. She didn't know what they were looking for but knew that they had drug James and Lorenzo off kicking and screaming. At this news Camaro slumped over and cried to the Goddess asking for help. The old maid welcomed Camaro into her home. She feared for the girl's life and wanted to protect her. She promised to treat her like her own and that she would teach Camaro to be a Seamstress. The maid, who was the town's only Seamstress, saw this as a sign. She was getting old and her tasks were getting harder to do each day. With the young girl's energy and strength she could continue her duties as Seamstress. This was selfish on the woman's part but she never voiced these thoughts to Camaro. They gathered some of her belongings and took her to the small one room hut that the old maid occupied. She had thought of claiming the now empty house but surely the soldiers would return to search for whatever it was they were looking for.
Finally settled into the small cot in the room, Camaro stared at the ceiling. She couldn't sleep with the current situation in her life. She didn't sleep that night. It wasn't the first time she didn't sleep, in fact when her Mother fell ill she barely slept since that time. Then with her Mother's death and now the disappearance of her Father and Brother she was alone. Tears rolled down her cheeks as the thoughts ran through her mind. She didn't know what to do. She had no one to turn to. There was the old maid but she didn't feel connected with her. It was not the same. |
