Coach

Joe Hamilton

 

     Joe Hamilton has served as head football coach at Blackhawk High School for the past 22 years. He graduated from Geneva College with Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and received his Masters in Secondary Administration from Westminster College.

    While attending Geneva college, Joe was a four year letter winner as linebacker and guard and co-captain of the football team his senior year. He also earned the following honors: All-state linebacker- U.P.I., All-state guard- A.P., Honorable Mention- Little All American, All conference linebacker and guard and he participated in the Gem Bowl in Erie, PA.

     In addition to serving as head coach at Blackhawk, Joe has coached at Beaver, Midland, New Brighton and Hempfield High Schools. His record from 1966 to present is 233wins, 100 losses and 11 ties.

    Under Joe's direction, Blackhawk has been PIAA finalists for three years, Western Champions three years, Western finalists one year, WPIAL Champions four years, WPIAL Finalists four years and Section Champions seven years. He has been named AAA Coach of the year seven years. In 1989, Joe served as head coach for the Big 33 games. He has been Director of the Penn-Ohio Game since 1979.

     Joe was inducted into the Beaver County Sports Hall of Fame in 1990 and the Pennsylvania State Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1997.
