Chapter 7

Chapter 7

Jen and Annlyn had returned to the hotel room. The hot summer sun prompted a nice relaxing day at the beach. They made their way down to the front desk. There stood Jacob. Jen just waved at him, not wanting for him to think she was mad at him. They decided to walk the couple of blocks to the beach, when they started talking.

"So what did you think about today?" Annlyn finally asked. "You're honest opinion."

"It is where you belong." Jen replied. "You found your calling."

"You really think?" Annlyn asked. Annlyn was Jen's best friend in the world. Annlyn always needed reassurance for everything she did. They always had an understanding with each other. To tell the truth, no matter how much it might have hurt. But, this was one of the times when it was clear that there weren't any bad feelings.

"I definitely do" Jen started. "You have a way with people, you know how to make them relax." "You definitely knew how to work that crowd." I think everybody had a great time." They continued walking.

"Speaking of having good time" Annlyn said. "I noticed you were keeping your eye on that Kevin Richardson." "He's pretty nice, huh." Annlyn could see through Jen like a piece of cellophane. Especially, when it came to men.

"I don't know what it is about him". Jen sheepishly replied.

"I know." Annlyn said. "He's a hottie." They both laughed and continued talking about their day.

They decided to spend a couple of hours on the beach. The water was as clear as the blue sky. The warm breezes were soothing. This was nothing like the beaches at home. One of the most appealing things was the palm trees. They were everywhere, along the sidewalks, and in a bunch along the highway. They are absolutely beautiful.

Jen and Annlyn came back to the hotel, and decided to watch TV. Annlyn was finishing some work she had to do on her laptop, where she also kept a journal. "Hey, I'm gonna get something to drink"? Annlyn said. "Do you want anything?" There was a knock at the door. "I'll get it. " Annlyn said. It was Jacob the counter guy.

"I have a envelope for Jennifer." he said.

"K, thanks" she said and closed the door. "Package for you." Annlyn said.

"What?" Jen asked questioningly. "Who would send me an envelope?"

"Well why don't you open it and find out?" Annlyn asked.

She took the envelope, and carefully studied it. She opened it and pulled out the piece of paper. She started to read aloud. "Jennifer, I told you I would take care of everything." "Hope to see you tonight." Kev..."

The two friends looked at eachother. "I knew it, Annlyn said to Jen." he is interested."

"No, he's not, he's just being nice." she said to her friend. "Why would he want someone like me when he could have anybody in the world." Models, celebrities, whoever." She finished.

"That may be true." Annlyn answered. "But, he took the time to find out where you were staying, and sent you a note." "And besides that, he knows that I have tickets for tonight's show." "I interviewed them for God's sake". She said. Jen looked at her almost in shock.

Annlyn and Jen arrived at the venue. There was a sea of people; mostly young girls and some were holding banners. The signs expressed their devotion to the five young men they were getting ready to see perform. Somehow the girls had made it to their seats. They were in a special seating area reserved for media, special guests, and the like. The lights were about to go down when Jen was tapped on the shoulder.

"Miss, I was wondering if you would please come with me." a man in a security uniform had said to her. "Your friend too" he said.

They were lead down a long corridor that had a curtain at the end. Jen and Annlyn were speechless.

"What the hell did we do?" Annlyn said to Jen.

"I don't have a clue." Jen answered.

"This way please." the security man had said. They walked up a flight of steps. "Wait here." he said. He disappeared into a little office, and returned with an envelope that he Handed to Jen.

"What the hell is this?" she said to the man. She opened it, and read the note inside. "I thought you might enjoy a better view" it read. It was from Kevin.

The stage was dark, the curtain was still down, and off in the distance were 5 Silhouettes. The screams from the crowd were deafening. High above the arena was a large screen. Images flashed one by one. Then a countdown began. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. The curtain dropped and the stage exploded in a multitude of fireworks. The music played, and the boys had hit the stage.
