History:

In September 5, 1997, St. Patrick's Church sponsored a Youth Recollection that invited young members of the parish to a two-day recollection and fellowship. Out of the many young members of the parish, only 16 showed up. From these sixteen young parishoners, the first St. Patrick's Young Council was formed. The council was divided into three smaller factions namely: Knights of the Holy Table, Youth Legion of Mary, and the Youth Choir. Gradually the number of youth in the parish grew and SPYCo became a strong organization and was active during the first two years of its establishment. The group was formerly led and advised by one of the RVM Nuns, Sis. Gloria Bonghanoy. In 1998, a new Parochial Vicar helped the further establishment of the council. Father Raymund Reyes became the Choir Master and is still helping the choir in the present day. The choir also became affiliated with the Old St. Mary's Church in Chinatown. Residents of the same district, the two parishes are part of the same Deanery in the Archdiocese of San Francisco. This is where the Gee Family comes from. Dennis, his wife, Cathy, and their four children devoted their time with the members of the Youth Choir to sing masses in St. Patrick's and Old St. Mary's. Until this day, the Gee Family is still one of the most dedicated members of the St. Patrick's Youth Council.

Through the years, the group have lost but have also gained new members. However, the bond of the group remained strong and have become stronger. Members of the council have become brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ and have done their best to uphold their faith in God Almighty. Now as the group reaches its 5th year, their bond as a family grows stronger everyday. They still serve at St. Patrick's Church and with older ages they now call themselves Young Adults, the future leaders of the world and the parish. Together, they will forever sing their praises to God and will see through all difficulties that may come. They have learned throughout the years that there is nothing in the world so tough that cannot be broken by the bonds of friendship and love.
