A Day In The Life Of BATMAN--The "Please Don't Go" Video Shoot
Immature's Groove
Shooting the "Please Don't Go" video was a very emotional day for Batman and everyone connected with Immature. Chris Stokes warned that emotions would be running high, but he wanted all of Batman's friends to be there and, of course, they were.
Batman had written the song for his mother, Carolyn, who was fighting cancer. I'm sorry to say that Carolyn is no longer with us. It was his way of expressing himself during a very painful time. The video, however, is about the pain of losing a girlfriend. It would also be Batman's first "on screen" kiss and because the girl dies at the end, it would require a lot of Batman's dramatic acting skills. There was no doubt in anyone's mind that day that this would be a tough shoot.
But Batman is a pro. He did what he had to do and did it very well. He had the love and support of Romeo and LDB and all of the Hook Productions staff, along with friends and family who cameto the set.
After the long day of shooting, everyone felt drained, but they knew that they had created a great video--something to be extremely proud of. And everyone was proud of Batman as well. Through the tears , smiles and hugs, he had been, what they callin the biz, a tropper. His proformance was excellent, but everyone conected to the video was glad it was over and now in the hands of the film editors.
Perhaps the prodest person of all was Batman's mother. He had written a song for her and it was a beautiful song. He was also asked to do a very difficult task and that was to bring the song to life on video. It was not the interpretation he had in mind when he wrote it, but it was also another emotional interpretation none the less. And he preformed remarkably well. What a wonderful son she has.
