RE: William DAY in Revolutionary War (Dick Daly) (02-Nov-98 16:45:22)
This is just a wild shot in the dark but was
William Day's father, John Day m. ??? Nichols.
John Day had a son named Samuel Day b. 1757
who also fought in the Revolutionary War and was
wounded at the Battle of Cowpens. The origin of the
family suggests they were from Derbyshire,
England then to New Jersey to Pennsylvania to
South Carolina and then to Pendleton Co., Va.
Any connection?

John Edward Day believed to have been born circa
1927 in London, England. The information is sketchy
but I am told he was a twin but his twin and mother died
in childbirth, he had a brother and a
sister; the sisters name is believed to be Irene.
He married Nellie Mayleen
Wallis in 1944. Nellie is believed to have come from
Derbyshire England and was born on 7th October 1923.
They settled in Portsmouth England
after World War 2 and had 2 sons Graham and Kenneth
(me) and 2 daughters Irene and Lorraine. Nellie had
a son (David) from a previous marriage)
In 1965 the family migrated to Australia travelling
on the ship Fairsea which sailed from Southampton,
