Robert DAYE (DAY) b. abt. August 1604 in England, d. 1648 in Hartford, CT, m. (1) Mary___;
(2) Editha Stebbins, d. October 24, 1688, sister to Deacon Edward Stebbins.
She m. (2) Deacon John Maynard, Hartford CT; d. 1657-8, will
dated January 23 1657-8, proved February24, 1657-8;
m. (3) Elizur Holyoke of Springfield, MA in 1658;
son of Edward and Prudence (Stockton) Holyoke; b. Tamworth, Stafford Co.,England,
d. February 6, 1676 in Springfield, MA
Robert and his first wife, Mary came from Ipswich, Co. Suffolk, England in April 1634
on the ship "Elizabeth" to Boston.
They settled first in Cambridge, MA. On May 6, 1635, he was admitted a freeman.
His first wife, Mary supposively died
before he moved to CT. Shortly after, about 1639, he moved
to Hartford, CT. His name is on a monument that was erected
to the memory of the first settlers in Hartford, CT.
His will was dated May 20, 1648, which is printed in
Trumbull?s Colonial Records of CT., I487; and inventory of
his estate was filed on October 14, 1648. Of descendants
of Robert Day in the male line, full account is printed by
Rev. George E. Day, of Northampton.
Robert's second wife was the mother of his children.

His will was dated November 16, 1725 and proved May 6, 1730.
He owned shared in a grist or saw mill, which he bequeathed
to his son William. He left his house and lands in Hartford
to his wife, and after her decease it went to his son John.
He received the property from his stepfather John Maynard
as stated in his will. Also mention in the will are Editha,
his mother, Thomas, his brother and his sisters Sarah and Mary.
Sarah (Butler) Day was one of Thomas Butler's heirs in 1697
for his estate.

(possibly settled first in Hartford, CT).
On September 19, 1677, the Indians attacked Hatfield, MA,
kidnapping seventeen people, who where the first white
people taken as captives to Canada. During the attacked,
Sarah and her baby, Joseph were killed and another son,
Samuel was taken captive to Canada.
The town of Hadley* was situated on both sides of the
Connecticut River, exposed to constant attacks from the Indians.
Because of this danger, the people of the west side of the
river, in 1667, sent a petition to the governor and council of
Massachusetts asking to be a separate society. It was granted
by the general court the following year and the new town was
named Hatfield*.

25 Samuel (Sarah, Robert) b. April 11, 1669, in Hadley*,
d. August 24, 1708; m. Hannah Dickinson of Hadley in 1690,
b. 1666, d. August 3, 1745; dau. of Nathaniel and Hannah
Dickerson. Her grandfather, Nathaniel Dickerson, came
to Wethersfield from England in 1637 and was one of the
founders of Hadley in 1659; d. June 16, 1676. Will of Hannah,
dated Colchester, April, 18, 1745, mentions the children
listed below. Proved January 7, 1745-6. Samuel was taken
captive by the Indians, September 19, 1677, and was taken to
Canada. He remained a prisoner there until May 2, 1678, when
he and the others were rescued by two men of Hatfield,
Benjamin Waite and Justin Stockwell. They were brought to
Albany, May 22, 1678 and then to Hatfield. Samuel and
Hannah moved to Colchester in 1701, he became one of the
founders of that town.
