May 21 Riding a bike in China is dangerous! Almost ran into a police officer. BAD IDEA! But there's no better way to immerse yourself in the culture then by riding a bike! Oh, but it hurts the bum! Tried to fix the toilet this myself this morning. The whole mechanism on the inside was completely rusted through and the floater ball snapped off in my hand, filling the bathroom with toilet water! Félix turned the water off, smart boy. Tom: Cheap, comfortable, nice!

Celebrated Guillaume's birthday tonight! We went to a night market for dinner, which was a lot of fun. All of the vendors were selling food at their individual kiosks. We selected what we wanted and they cooked it up and brought it to our table. There was live entertainment and lots (and lots) of Shaoxing rice wine, but I only had one glass because the stuff is VILE. The guys tell me after a bottle it tastes like water. Well, after a bottle of alcohol, ANYTHING will taste like water! And what do you do when you want more crab and you don't speak the language? Well, you do the crab dance, an interesting combination of imitating pincers with your hands and shuffling your feet to the side!
