You moved up from Victoria about a year ago
I first saw you, I was annoyed, you sat in front of me
In our English class, I couldn't see the board with you there
But it's then that it started, a friendship strong and true
I've grown to know you; you've grown to know me
I knew that we'd be friends, fairly good one's too
Coming to a new state, I know it would be hard
But you fitted right in, and remained to be yourself
From what you tell me, we're a different bunch of people
Though it's good you have come up here to share
Your stories and jokes, love, care and comfort
I have never doubted our friendship as I care for you a lot
In the short time I've known you, I've captured your mixed emotions
We've both been there for each other to help and support one another
But I want you to know that I'm always here for you
You're my friend, someone special, you won't be forgotten
If you didn't know what you meant to me, I hope you do now
I will stand by you all the way, there's no need to feel afraid
As I'm always going to remain your friend, I'll be there when the times get tough
Our friendship started from nothing, and now it's grown to something
In this short time frame, you've made many people smile
So on this important day, I want to look back and say
"I did make people smile, I did make people cry, but it was all out of friendship and happiness that it grew."
