1/24/03: Friday
Coffee House night was tonight. What a night. Where can I start? Let's see... I'll start with yesterday. Went back to school and had a new set up classes lined up for me to knock down. Actually, came in second period because I have first period off, EVERYDAY. Haha... too bad for everyone else in the world getting up at 6... i can get up at 8 :-b. Of course, I'm opening tomorrow, and I'm delaying going to bed. Anywho, I had Intro to Video, with the aussie, then lunch (woo!!), followed by Gov. Ec. and lastly Biology 2. Today I had... FIRST BLOCK OFF, Dan actually spent the night last night. School night, go figure... but he didn't have to be in until 2nd period, every other day. We had AP Calc, then lunch (woo!!), followed by Gov. Ec., and lastly Chamber Choir. What a schedule. So anyways, I got home today, and in a frenzy I practiced, and practiced, and practiced some more. I realized I only had one set ready for myself, when I was aiming for three, so I sat down and wrote. And I cranked something in about an hour. Click here if, for some reason, you want to read the lyrics. So I then practiced Caitlyn's songs (Avril Lavigne's I'm With You and Michelle Branch's Goodbye to You). I remembered I had to pick up the coffee, so I left and picked it up and went straight over to the school. I set up the sound equipment and went off and practiced with Caitlyn. Anyways, to the good stuff. The coffee house itself was a really big hit tonight. There was probably double the people that were there last time. Everyone did an awesome job, too. Props to Nemeth for his joke, which then inspired me to tell a few zingers. We got all the chamber kids in the room and sand Wanting Memories, and invited T (short for Tristan), who is Emily's boyfriend, to sing bass because he is in Fitch's chamber choir. Seeing how I was the only tenor, I wasn't able to hold my part tonight for some reason, so I sang the alto line, seeing how Liz was next to me. Oh well. The basketball game ended, and Katelyn came in. I was putting off going until she got there because she wanted to see me play, as she missed the last one. I played Hands Down by Dashboard Confessional, the song I wrote which right now I think I'll name Running Through My Head or Make You See. Oh well, I dunno. Then I randomly followed it all up with Breakfast at Tiffany's by Deep Blue Something, mostly because I didn't want to end on something I wrote and no one knew. I wanted to end on something people knew. I guess I did well, because after I finished, the roar of the applause was just overwhelming. It was a truly gratifying experience. I really can't put in words how it felt to have every cheer. I'm not getting egotistical, I swear, but it was a great feeling. Then Caitlyn performed her songs, and she totally brought the roof down. She did so well on them. It's funny, because we hadn't played the Michelle Branch song together until Wednesday when we decided that would be a good one. Having only played through it about 4 or 5 times, we played it first and she did awesome at it. She really brought it home with the Avril Lavigne tune. It was great. Emily also did and awesome job on Heaven. I forget who it's by, but someone remade it into a crazy techno song. She really got into it too. It was an awesome night. I'm already thinking about next time, crazy. Anyways, I need to go to bed because I have to be at work for 5:45. What craziness. I'm off at 12, and that's cool because opening shifts go by quickly. Especially at the coffee shop, because well, I dunno. It's great though. Anyways, good night. If you missed the coffee house, I'm sorry, go next time. It'll be great. And uh, yea. Have fun...
