The English Special Services Lab is a joint effort of the School of Humanities and Languages and the IVC Center for Supportive Services to meet the needs of reading students and students who are especially challenged by the language requirements of college-level studies. The Lab adjoins the Humanities Center and provides services in reading and writing, including electronic, audio, and text-based self-paced study units.

Use of the Lab is limited to students currently enrolled in the following classes:
How do I earn credit for the ESS Lab?
You must be enrolled in Reading 271 in order to earn credit for the time you spend working in the ESS Lab. You earn credit for Reading 271 by completing 13 hours of assigned work in the ESS Lab. Students enrolled in Reading 270 must enroll in Reading 271, which allows access to the ESS Lab.
