Project Ford Jeep

Heres my Ford Jeep Buildup ..Basicly this Jeep has been in the family since the 50's ..This picture is how it looked back in 1993 when I lost the time to work on it, It had been sitting in the driveway since about 1984, basicly hasnt ran since the early '80's ... Jump to Now .. Oct. 2006 .. I now pulled it out of the bee hive infested Canopy, and got it on a trailer ..Thats where the project begins ...

Its a 1945 Ford GPW, It has a Willys windshield as well as alot of creative add ons, It had a CJ3B engine and T90 3spd. transmission, First I Installed a Nissan KA24E out of an '89 240SX custom adapted to the T90 Trans. ... Fuel injected and all ... Now on to Stage 2 ..

Old Picture with Grandpa, It was used as a Hunting Rig for many years...

Picture with my 2 Aunts and my Cousin.. Yea thats 1972 !! ...

Heres how the project has progresed ...Paint and tons of Bondo is all gone, engine and trans is all in , gota do wirring and brake lines oh and a million little things and it should run and drive ...We have decided to reskin the body with new sheet metal ..its just way to rough and patched up .. Also now has Power brakes and 11" front drum upgrade..New gas tank with custom adapted Subaru Legacy in tank fuel pump..wheels are being powdercoated flat black and 31-10.5-15 BFG Mud Terrain's mounted up ..

Heres a good picture of the transmission adaptor I had to build to adapt the T90 trans. to the 240SX bellhousing ... Thanks to Otts Friction for the custom clutch disk !

Modified Subaru Legacy fuel pump assy. in a modified new tank.

Close ....

We decided for now to just leave the body as is ... its really beat up , but we are gona use it, so at least we wont have to worry about dents and scratches! ...

Suspension: I removed 3 leafs from the leaf springs ( no idea if they are stock or what, I was told they were re arched by my Grandpa in his garage to give it some lift ), cleaned and lubed them with Wurth copper anti sieze, Energy urethane shackle bushings and custom FMD shackles , KYB shocks are on order., rear will probably be the same, at least now the suspension moves !! ...

Well ,as of Easter it has been tested , took it out to the family Easter celebration and what a rush, some of them have not seen it in over 20 years, and to have the chance to ride in it and drive it again .. what fun , I had even more fun hearing all the fun stories behind it , all that it has been through, and how it is one of the family members !... I still have alot of suspension and steering upgrades in store , once they are done ..its off to the trails !

Fast Forward ...2020 ... After life getting in the way of the GPW, and to much time trying to dial in steering, changing jobs, Kids activities Etc. ... Now am ready to go to stage 2 of the GPW... Going a little crazy this time .. Using the chassis from an '05 Nissan Pathfinder, 4.0L V6 , 270HP, 5spd. Auto. 4 wheel Independent suspension, shift on the fly 4WD, ABS, Dynamic stability control ...All in a 1945 GPW Body...

on we go !...
