Death Child’s Story-Dream

Chapter Four

Part Two

He stands there in the dimly lit hallways of the Shinra mansion, admiring a massive sword in his hands. The floor boards creek underneath your weight and He glances at you.

“This was were it all started. The beginning of my nightmare.” He says swiping to the side with the sword, “And the start of a long story.”

He turns and walks away from you and you jog after him in order to keep up. You know this place, but yet somehow you don’t.

“I was turning twenty when I had first learned about Shinra. My wife, Laidia, stood beside me as I received a flyer from a young solider lad with black hair, she stood on her tippy-toes and leaned over my shoulder to read the flyer. She stood there rubbing her belly, she was three months pregnant with our first child at that time and she glared at the soldier with the black hair like she was going to kill him.” He stops to grin and then continues, “She stomped her foot as the soldier jumped with surprise. My wife always had a fighters spirit in her and I laughed when she stomped right up to the poor guy and got into his face.”

He starts walking up a flight of stairs and you notice how much he reminds you of Sephiroth from behind. You sallow, your throat gone dry at the close resemblance. All he was missing was the Masunie.

“She said with an unchangeable determination shining in her eyes that I wasn’t going anywhere. That I was going to stay and help take care of the baby I helped produce and I only laughed at the blank look on the poor guys face. I threw a couple taunts at him myself and watched him leave. My wife turns to me with a stern look on her face and I just looked at her as she went off on me. Ah, she was always doing that when ever I tired to insult someone.”

He is talking about happy time but there is no joy or happiness on his face. Only a bitter darkness that washes over his features as he stands on the top of the stairs looking off to the side.

“My wife got her wish and I stayed home. I watched her get prissier by the day and the baby develop month after month. Sometime that year around wintertime she was standing out side, now seven months pregnant, rubbing her lower belly humming. During those four months not much had happened, nothing at all. That’s why I hated our town but I loved my wife. As she stood outside her cheeks flushed pink from the cold, I was out of town that day and she was waiting for me to return. I was on my way to supplies from the desert prison. I knew my way in and out, so they let me got in and out freely. I never did make it home though. On my way in to the desert prison my buggy blew a fuse or something and I got out to see what the hell was wrong. I stood there in front of the opened hood of the buggy and shook my head. It was shot. I glanced around and a strange looking man stood there.”

He turns to the left and starts walking again, you trail after… you think you know whom the strange man might be… but you hope you’re wrong.

“He announced himself as Doctor Taylor. And I just blew him off. He hovered over me like a vulture waiting for me to drop dead; I’d kill him first though. I don’t remember things after that point. I only remember the pain, and a dull burning light. Muttering voices, mako, and a tank. I can’t explain to you what happened because it was all a blur to me. All I remember soon after that I was stumbling down a road, naked, weak and tired. I had little or no sense where I was going. I just knew I had to get home... to Laidia and my unborn child. I wandered endlessly for what seemed like days, until I reached my hometown. I glanced around and saw her, but I knew something was wrong. She stood there rubbing her now flat belly, her eyes dulled over with a deep sadness. We had lost the child. I felt the sob building up in my throat as I fell to my knees. Tears ran down my face and I howled in rage.”

He waves open a door that leads down a spiral staircase and starts walking down. You walk after him not egger to follow but you do.

“My wife jumped at the sound I had made and looked over for the source of the sound and her eyes went wide. She trembled and ran over to me and embraced me. She cried onto my shoulder while my mind was in chaos and I didn’t realize she was there. I heard my name being called softly as my mind fell back into the present. I looked at her, as if for the first time, at her lovely face and dark violet eyes shining with unshed tears. I held her tight, and she clung onto me. She whispered that the child was a boy but he died. I held her a little tighter and closed my eyes tight as tears ran down my face. She whispered that she loved me no matter what.

He darkens even more in the dim light down there. He steps off the stairs and slows his pace and begins walking down the hall, as if he doesn’t want to. You know this place… Damnit… you know this place. You can’t name it though, but this terrifying feeling says you’ve been here before.

“I explained to her the best I could as to what had happened after she had gotten me dressed, washed and fed. She only sat on the floor in the chair in front of me with her head in my lap. I’m glad your back. She whispered. She raised her head and slowly got up as if she was off balance. I had been gone for about four months, she tells me and points out the window to a small head stone but I refuse to look at it knowing full well what it was. I got up and embraced my wife, that night was ours to kept forever but it would be my last night with her like that. The next day I stood out on the deck watching people pass and mutter things at me. I knew they were hateful words but I didn’t care. A week later my wife was suffering from morning sickness and we both stood out on the deck as I rubbed her back. That black haired soldier returned and looked at me and my wife. I didn’t say anything neither did my wife. We had both suffered, she more then I but there was no way I could ease her pain expect to be there for her. The soldier began talking but it wasn’t something I much paid attention to. He shook his head and handed me a huge sword saying something about his own wife beginning pregnant and that respected me. My guess is that he headed on home.”

He adjusted his shoulders as if he carried a great weight on them that seemed it would never go away. You watch him and feel his cold presents by your side that makes you shiver in your boots.

“I can’t remember those first few months for I had fallen sick to some unknown illness. But I recovered, with my wife by my side…. Her belly large with the new developing baby she carried. I swore to her I wouldn’t go anywhere this time, not even to get supplies but she only shook her head. She told me we must do what is needed to survive, and she didn’t care what the other thought of me, she would always love me.”

His dark eyes catch yours and you feel like your starring into a never-ending obis of hate and dark emotions. He looks away from you and stands in front of a door, hands at his sides clenched into fists. Trembling…. Trembling with fear? No, a deep and unbreakable anger for something you have barely yet come to understand.

“I felt my heart break at that moment and a deep sorrow invade my soul that I wanted to go away. Her words sounded hollow to my ears, and made my heart ache to test her words and faith in me but I did not… I dared not. I lay on my bed, my wife in the other room, starring at the ceiling with the sword gripped in my hands. This was not the place I left nor would it ever be again. The hollow words echoed threw my head. I left that night and never looked back. I headed to the desert prison in hope for finding some relief from my heartbreak but I didn’t find any. With burden of the sword on my back I sought out nothing and no one. I ran into the buggy I left behind the last time I went in there and sat inside starring out the window. Waiting for this nightmare to end….. but by far… it was just beginning.”

He stopped trembling, and became unreadable, no emotions showing in his eyes or face, just an eerie sense of death hung about him and you were tempted to take a step back but you did not.

“I found him again, Doctor Taylor, and I rose to meet his arrival with my sword. Actions speak louder then words they  say but death was hovering somewhere above me, watching and enjoying the show. Doctor Taylor glared at me for a moment and then laughed…stupidly. He watched me and admired the sword as if I wasn’t going to do anything with it but show it to him. He said everything was according to his plan, that even now my heartless wife lay dead, and she would never stress out his precious specimen again. I felt myself trembling and raised the sword to throat level and pointed at him. I meant to kill him and he was not getting away. Or so I would like to think.”

He pushes open the door and walks inside slowly. You trail after him, you don’t understand. You’re confused, but somehow it all makes sense.

“I lunged at him swinging the sword over and over at him. Hoping that one swipe would cut off his head, but my blade never made contact. He slammed a hypo into my neck and I crumpled to the ground seconds after. I was lost, mentally and physically.”

He walked up to the large test chambers(huge tubes) and stares into them. You nervously look into the test chambers and feel yourself trembling. You don’t know why, you don’t care why but you want out. You glance over at him in time to see him moving out of the room as if sensing your discomfort. He walked up to a bookshelf and effortlessly pushed it over, revealing a door. You watched him as he opened the door and walked inside. Almost against your will you follow him.

“I don’t remember anything…. Anything at all. After the hypo was in my neck. I do… however, remember waking up in this room.”

You look around the room and it looks like a large operating room but the devices instead of interments hung above the table/bed in the middle of the room from a robotic type of thing. You look at him as he walks over to the table and places his hand on it.

“This is where the hell of my life after began and continued even till this day. I am alone….purely alone.”

You want to tell him no he’s not but…….. the end surrounds you and cascades you into another dream. He would remain unknown…. For now.
