Riona's Journal

I hate school!
*Sigh* back to school soon. I officially start on the 6th. Vacation was nice while it lasted.
Still working up the courage to tell my parents about the whole sexual orientation thing. Everyone else is easy to tell...but I remember my dad getting upset that his sister was a lesbian, and saying he'd disown any child of his who was gay. Yeah, that's encouraging.
I'll have to post another pic I have scanned in here soon. I'm 18 in the pic, but I look like a fucking 12 year old. Eilan keeps trying to tell me that I'll like that when I'm 40 and people think I'm 30, but that's quite a way off yet.
That's all for now.

I want to be in love...
It's been awhile since I've been in a relationship. Would be nice to feel that rush again. Haven't dated anyone since Theresa, and that was at least 6 months ago.
Unfortunately, lesbians are rather rare in rural Oregon (ha, did you notice my alliteration? Toooo many English classes for me).
School started up today. I can't wait to be finished with all this crap. But then, I'll have to work. I wonder what I'll end up doing?
I'll leave those thoughts for another day. Right now I have homework to do and then it's off to bed.

A funny textbook?
Okay, I found the following passage from my Psych textbook actually FUNNY:
"A couple of years ago, I was watching a Discovery Channel nature documentary about elephants. After the narrator discussed the enormous amount of food elephants eat, he started on their digestive system. He commented that the average elephant passes enough gas in a day to propel a car for 20 miles. I thought 'Wow, isn't that an amazing fact!' and I told a couple of other people about it. A while later I started to think, 'Wait a minute. Who measured that? And HOW?! Did some people really attach a balloon to an elephant's rear end and collect gas for 24 hours? And then put it into a car to see how far they could make the car go? Was that a full-sized car or an economy car? City traffic or highway? How do they know they measured a typical elephant? Maybe they chose an extra-gassy one.'"
Maybe it's just me, but eh, it made me laugh. I hope the whole thing is amusing.
January 17, 2003:
Yay!
I am the first to get on this thing in our new computer room! Yesterday I spent most of the day moving stuff up here...so now all the furniture is here, we just need to arrange it. The computer room is done, it was easy. Caitlin was home, so she helped me a little, but I waited to move the heavy stuff till Aidan and Eilan got home. Wouldn't let Caitlin carry anything but books and such.
I got to actually sleep in a room by myself last night! That was so great. We're going to be posting before and after pics of the whole house (except for a few of the rooms I don't think we ever took before pics). I'll probably be doing that, since Aidan has no interest in decorating.
On Tuesday, before she had to go to work, Caitlin and I went to La Grande and went shopping for more baby stuff. We got a stroller and I bought her a bunch of the cutest little clothes. Next week, she and I are going to start on redecorating the baby's room. I can't wait for that.
While we were at the store, we ran into Eilan's dad and his 3 other kids (1 boy, 2 girls). He was clothes shopping with them and asked for my help figuring out what size his girls were, cause he didn't know and his wife told him to make sure they didn't get anything too tight. Well, the 14 year old girl is much like Eilan was at that age (rather chubby) and she was picking out size 5 underwear. I'm like, okay, there's no way. She should be wearing a size 9. I tried to tell her nicely that a bigger size would be more comfortable, but she just got mad at me and said "Riona, you're so negative!" Why am I negative just because I'm trying to help her by telling her the truth. Her dad asked for my help, and I really did my best to be nice, cause I know how sensitive Eilan used to be about her weight.
Argh. Anyway, I asked what they were doing in La Grande (they live in Bend), and he said they were visiting his wife's family..she was out doing something with her sisters at that moment. That made me kind of angry, because obviously they would be there for a few days, and he didn't even bother to call Eilan. I almost don't want to blame him though, because I'm pretty certain his wife was behind it. She doesn't like Eilan, just cause she's another woman's child. How petty can one person be? But, it still is his fault for not standing up to her. Eilan and her dad were really close when she was little, but after he got married they just drifted apart. :(
Well, I'm going to go work on arranging everything in my room. Bye! :)

Looky!

Hehe. Now you all get to see how pale I really am. Anyway, I love this thing! I think Eilan is going to post a pic of hers too, but I'm not sure.
Meanwhile, nothing much has been going on with me lately. School, school, and more school. I cannot WAIT to be finished!
