Reflection: Human Experience

After reading Parable of the Sower, by Octavia E. Butler, I literally began to almost sneer and distrust police when I walked down the street. I was beginning to be really parnoid! That's when I realized Butler did a good job when writing this story to make it almost believeable, and to the point where I could vision what it was like for everyone.

Although after a month after reading it, I no longer think about how the police sometimes don't even come when called, or the firemen with how they just want money or how expensive water is (especially when people already think it's high enough as it it).

I'm so glad our lives today aren't nearly so terrible. And I have enough faith in our government that it won't ever get that bad. However, if it did, I doubt I'd have enough strength to live in it for as long as Lauren and her friends had.
