Chicanos for Community Medicine (CCM) is a Chartered
Organization at California State University, Northridge (CSUN).
It is recognized as being highly effective providing motivational
support to minority and disadvantage students considering a
career in the medical and health professions.

CCM was founded in 1971 by Chicano students who were
concerned with the issues affecting the Chicano Community.

CCM's goals:
* increase the number of Chicano/Latino and other
unrepresented minorities in medical and health science fields.
*provide and maintain an on and off campus communication
network among minority students interested in the health fields.
* unify and recruit minorities interested in the health professions.
* assit in the retention of Chicano/Latino students throughout
their academic career here at California State University, Northridge.

CCM enhances the opportunity of students in gaining
admission to medical and graduate schools and thus
fulfill our short term goals. However, CCM's long term
objective is to provide our disadvantage communities
with an accesible and sensitive health care system through
quality and caring professions.
