THE CLARK FAMILY
MATHIAS CLARK was born in Indiana in 1831. His parents, names unknown, were both born in Kentucky. According to the 1890 Union Veteran Records, Mathias served as a Private in Company H, 79th Indiana Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War. He enlisted on July 4, 1861 and he collected a pension for his military service. According to the census record, he was "shot in the left thigh, carries the bullet yet".
Mathias married Emily E. Polin, born in 1838 in either Illinois or Indiana. The 1880 census records show both her parents as having been born in Kentucky, however, the 1910 census records list her mother as having been born in Ireland, and her father as having been born in England.
Mathias M. Clark and Emily E. Polin had the following children: (list is from 1880 census) 1. George Washington Clark was born August 21, 1861 in Indianapolis, Marion Co, Indiana. 2. Aaron M. Clark was born in Illinois in 1870. 3. C.W. Clark was born in Illinois in 1873. 4. John R. Clark was born in Nebraska in 1877. 5. C.C. Clark was born in Nebraska in February 1880.............................................................................
In 1880 and 1890, Mathias and Emily were living in Hamilton County, Nebraska. In 1910, they were living in Central Point, Jackson County, Oregon.
GEORGE WASHINGTON CLARK was born in Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana on August 21, 1861. He married Mary Elizabeth WRIGHT on December 28, 1883 probably in Nebraska. Mary was born July 1863 in Indiana. George and Mary had the following children: 1. Aaron M. Clark born October 1884 in Nebraska. He married Mabel V. Libby on January 29, 1910 in Jackson County, Oregon. 2. Emily Unis Clark, born December 1885, probably in Nebraska 3. Bertha Velma Clark, born in Nebraska in June 1887. 4. Gertrude Clark, born in Nebraska November 1888. She married Benjamin Peart on December 19, 1906 in Jackson County, OR. He was an Orchardist. 5. Myrtle Gay Clark, born August 9, 1891 in Grant County, Nebraska. 6. Frederick Clark born in Oregon about 1900.
George W. and Mary Clark, their children and Mary's father, Aaron Wright, moved by covered wagon to Oregon in 1894. They bought a 75 acre farm north of Jacksonville, OR. George and Mary are both buried in the Jacksonville Cemetary.
MYRTLE GAY CLARK was born Aug.8,1891 in Grant County, Nebraska to George Washington CLARK and Mary Elizabeth WRIGHT. She and her family came out to Oregon by covered wagon in 1894 and settled in Jackson County, Oregon. She married William Victor Hanscom on October 7, 1906 in Medford, Oregon. Myrtle and William had the following children: 1. Lloyd William Hanscom, born September 7, 1907 in Ashland, Jackson County, Oregon...... 2. Edna M. Hanscom, born in Jackson County, Oregon in 1909 married Harold Cady. 3. Kenneth R. Hanscom, born in Jackson County, Oregon in 1912....................................................

Harold CADY b.June 13,1908 to Lorrenzo Cady and Pearl Stark. Married twice, 1st wife: Edna. They had 4 children: Betty LaJean CADY b.October 17,1932 in Medford, Oregon; Milton LaVerne CADY b.October 13,1935 in Gridley, California; Victor Harold CADY b. October 17,1938 in Gridley, California; and Edith Myrtle CADY b.May 14,1940 in Gridley, California. Harold died August 1982 in Gridley, California.
