Manganin

• contains 84% copper, 12% manganese, and 4% nickel
• used for making precision wire wound resistors because of its low temperature coefficient of resistance

Constantan

• contains 60% copper and 40% nickel
• used for making wirewound resistors
• low temperature coefficient of resistance
• often used with iron or copper in thermocouples

Permalloy

• an alloy that has high permeability
• usually contains iron, nickel, and small quantities of other metals

Alnico

• an alloy made of Aluminum, Nickel and Cobalt
• has high permeability
• used to make permanent magnets as required in loudspeakers, magnetrons, and other devices

Nichrome

• an alloy of nickel, chromium, and sometimes iron
• high electric resistance and the ability to withstand high temperature for long periods of time
• trademark of Driver-Harris Company

Hipernik

• contains 40% iron and 60% nickel

Hardened Steel

• magnetic material for permanent magnets

Soft Iron

• used for temporary magnets
