Sociological Analysis Tools

*****An Invitation from TSS*****

Below is a list of ANALYSIS TOOLS that will be used in The Sociology Shop. It has been my experience that a clear understanding, a sociological understanding, of these concepts is necessary, especially since there is a great deal of confusion as to just what they mean in our everyday conversation. A number of them are used in one way while their more fundamental (sociological) meaning gets obscured. However, the point of presenting these concepts is more than merely informing. Rather, the point is to learn to use them in our everyday thinking. They aren't something to learn or even memorize...no, they are to be used. This is sometimes exceedingly hard to do given the repetitiveness of the way we've been taught to reason. Critical thinking is much more difficult because it requires us to actually stop and consider how we're thinking about something.
