Although already known to many in Sociology for his work in Social Theory, George Ritzer has become known to many more...across disciplines...since the original publication of THE MCDONALDIZATION OF SOCIETY. The links in this Room attest to the attention he has received...both for his McDonaldization thesis and his metatheorizing endeavors, which I feel deserve even more attention from sociologists. His SOCIOLOGICAL THEORY (and his other theory books), now in its 5th Edition, continues to be a popular book for both undergraduate and graduate courses. Whether you like his work or not, Ritzer's standing in the discipline is well established and in my own way, by creating this Room as venue for some of his work and works based on him, I wish to acknowledge it.
