![]() In Praise of Lady Mary Hail Mary, Mother of Christ, the Redeemer; I love thy son Jesus, Superstar forever. Divine Patroness of my old home town; In yonder darkness, you are my beacon. It's been my fortune to be born on your feast day; My parents were pleased, they thought I must be lucky. Where most babies were born in times of darkness and intense pain; I came into this world in the light of day and gentle rain. Thus I was named after thee, Lady Mary; Tormented by other kids who thought that it was funny; But I defended your name with my fist though I often lose; I always wiped a bloody nose. Now I'm much older but not much wiser; I always meant well, but I'm a sinner. So often I have forgotten; I pray that I'll be forgiven. I'm a drifter, I've travelled far and wide; Maybe someday to the village where you once reside. So often I erred and walked astray; Dear Lady, please help me find my way. I think of thee for I'm scared, tired and weary; Don't come to me, for I am not worthy. Hail, Holy Mother of Mercy, I truly love thee; I beseech thee to pray for me and I'll be okay. -- josef mariam napoli |
