About Stolen Vehicles

Nothing is more annoying than watching an uneducated player destroy a valuable tank or a tank that does not belong to them. The General consensus is that a tank or vehicle belonging to the opposing team should be kept in the safest area possible to deteriorate the enemy Vehicle limit. The ideal situation being that you have all 5 or so tanks from the other teams base leaving them with fewer tanks to attack with. It is almost all ways more efficient to lose your own tank and kill and enemies captured tank than to retreat when the battle is close. Acceptable use of captured tanks is defending the base from a rush or attack of some kind. The only person allowed to make the decision not to protect a captured tank is the player who captured it. The best policy is If you did not pay for it and you don't know who did...don't touch it.

About rushes

There is a rush for every vehicle in Renegade excluding only the Recon bike that can be found in crates and purchased on a few maps and the hum vee/buggy. I wont go over the specifics but the basic principal is the same with all rushing. For the most effective rushes you must Know the target before you leave your base. you must all leave in one group and you must go as smoothly as possible. Like highway driving you must know how to merge. The most successful rushes are single file. Maps the allow a non single file rush are fairly self evident. If you ever have lag that causes you vehicle to hang on rocks, buildings, or other tanks other player expect you will go to the end of the line. Other players are going to be upset if your tank is the cause of a failed two part rush. Because of the nature of the stealth tank a separate section is devoted to them.

About Stealth rushes.

The stealth tank is power full and sneaky. it is often used in rushes with much success. As long as you avoid these simple pitfalls your stank rushes should prove successful more often than not. The power of a stealth tank rush is obvious, Stealth, is the biggest advantage when in a stank rush do not compromise the element of surprise by attacking passing vehicles. Even if a captured tank is in question. Your target is a building and is far more valuable than ANY captured vehicle. Other player will expect that you do not engage anything else until the target is destroyed. Should your particular tank be discovered you are expected to lure attention away from the mass who will attempt to continue the mission. If all the tanks are discovered to far away from the base to complete your task you are expected to regroup at the base and try again. A level of judgement needs to be made and lets face it some people are more brazen than other. You must make a call. If the group has decided that the mission should continue then by all means go on if two of your 7-10 tanks are still riding to death. You need to wake up and stick to the group. Remember that without the element of surprise you are using something far weaker than a flame tank with only a slightly farther range if you think your rush will be spotted. play it safe and use flame tanks for what they were made to do.

About the NOD RECON BIKE.

The recon bike can be collected by crates or on some maps built at the airstrip. It has very limited use and is hard to control for the newer players. It can outrun the base defenses under the correct circumstances and can be used in a single player rush. However no one has reported on its effectiveness as a group rushing unit.

About Keeping and capturing your tanks.

Losing a tank to a sbh or a GDI guy with a stealth crate is an embarrassing way to get marked as a noob by your peers. There are steps you can take to avoid this. First never leave your vehicle on the field no matter how safe it feels. The safest place to repair a tank is in range of the base defenses on the off chance a brazen character does get your tank it will be killed by your Obby/AGT. Apc's, Hum vee's, and tanks planing to go into the enemy base should be equipped with c4 to blow them up if they are taken or have outlived there usefulness. you should carry c4 while driving a tank to blow up any "corpse" that may be left. Most enemies kill the "corpse" even in there own base on the notion that it may be repaired by the driver. Let me put that to rest by saying IT WILL NOT HAPPEN. If an enemy tank is close to death stop holding the fire button and work on killing it to a "Corpse" state then kill any occupants. Once clear get out of your tank and capture the vehicle. This is the EASIEST way to get opposing team vehicles. Apc rushes are used on almost every map and frequently present the opportunity to take a prize. This is what other players should expect of you and it is responsibility of near by players to help you in a capture.

If your tank is stolen.

Even in your own base your tanks can be stolen by brave or lucky people in the right place at the right time. Do not panic! Calmly arm your c4 by pressing 9 until the timed c4 charge is armed then place the charge on the side of the tank and open fire with any remaining power you have. If the tank escapes you can take comfort in the fact that you did every thing you could to stop the travesty. If you witness a tank captured by the other team you are expected to stop what you are doing. (provided it is not saving the base from attack.) Help kill the tank before it leaves.

Team tank use.

When your team members buy a tank its something they worked hard to get to ...or waited a long time for. Do not hop in a tank looking for a ride unless you have a repairgun or a beacon or at least plan to help. People want you to help out...to do that you need to have C4 and a repair gun...in case the tank needs repair or you have the chance to get in a biulding and set C4. You should NEVER EVER get in a tank that is parked in your base unless it is going to be captured or you have the owners permission. It may be a captured tank or part of a mass...or just being saved. it does not matter what the reason is. JUST WALK AWAY. its not worth the Noobing you will get for tank stealing and teamhampering.

Common vehicle use mistakes.

Forgeting to lock the vehicle veiw to the turret via the mouse pointer options in controls

Forgeting to look for the "Perchase request granted" prompt or checking your credits when you think your tanks been stolen...the tanks are set to only allow the person who bought the tank to open it at first.
