A rush is a very important and sensitive part of the game. Gathering your forces to over take the enemy defenses needs a lot of team work. While your team is rushing your base is vulnerable to attack by the other team. It is important that people not involved in the rush stay near the base to defend against possible attack. In a small rush speed and cooperation is needed. Small rushes that involve entering buildings need people to clear mines. At least half of all the rushes I have seen failed because the team had to stop to clear mines. The flame trooper has the most armor for a free class it is ideal for this job take one with you on all small rushes..they are also good decoys.
It needs to be said that the flame trooper does NOT have more armor directly. The advantage in the flame trooper is in its resistance to flame damage. Tests were performed with 5 mines each round. All classes were exposed to one mine at a time the flame trooper was the only free class of GDI or NOD. to survive all 5 mines. 6 were needed to kill the flame trooper. The test was performed with no jumping or attempt to avoid the dammage. 5 was selected because it is considered the standard number of mines on any door covered.
