So Is The Way of Boot Camp...
Up in the mornin' with the risin' sun,
So is the way of boot camp.
Even though we awake at oh-dark-thirty,
We push through this new and frightening ordeal
Nine weeks long and a little more,
So is the way of boot camp
We march in tightly formed units
To the tunes of cadences and "1-2-3-4"
Homesickness and fatigue set in
So is the way of boot camp
We regret the day we swore our lives
Wishing we are at home in our beds.
Graduation day comes and off to school
So is the way of boot camp
The long, hard weeks have paid off
And we walk out the gate, full of pride.
A new division marches past us
So is the way of boot camp
Reminding us of our scared beginnnings
And the strong ones we have become.
We are the proud, strong, and true,
So is the way of boot camp...
