Kates Goth Wannabe Page

This page is for kate's gothic side of her personality.
So it appears that some losers over on the Cure Message Board are TOO STUPID TO GET THE JOKE. This page is intended as tongue in cheek. Get a clue.

Favorite Gothwannabe quotes (actual things said by people we know):
"...." (enigmatic silence)
"I'm a real witch, I have all the books!"
"I'm really sorry for all the trouble I've caused" (not effective without the Drano-stained teeth)
"But I was just comforting her..." (said while zipping up pants)
"No, it's not velvet, it's CRUSHED velvet"
"I had Robert Smith's baby" (said while wearing 3 Cure t-shirts stitched together)
"You listen to the Cure and Loveline won't call back" (ok, that one was in a song)
"Well, either we're surrounded by gothwannabes or clown college let out early"
"I'm so goth I'm not even goth anymore..."
"It can't rain all the time" (unless you live in Seattle)
"Yeah, I know what an ankh means...it means I'm a goth"
"You've heard of paint-by-numbers, here's goth-by-numbers!"
"When in your world, technicolor means monochrome"
"it's not depression, it's melancholy" (said while on a fistful of Prozac)
"I'm a real goth...Skinny who? Puppy what?"
"I love you don't touch me"
"The only reason I'm not a necrophiliac is because I don't have a shovel"
"My old man Angel, he got me into this" (said by someone who believes they're a real vampire)
"Someone's trying to kill me! THEY are after me!" (after someone pointed a laser pointer at her)
"We're drunk, we're in a graveyard...we MUST be goths!"
"I'm so goth I'm dead!"
"Theres a fine line between pleasure and pain, for me the line is blurred beyond recognition"
"I'm so goth, I can wear PINK!"
" Going goth isn't something you do gradually. The transformation will inevitably be an abrupt one, so it's best to combine it with being away for a while. Say, for instance, at a psychiatric hospital"
"I'm so goth I don't use fabric softener because I LIKE PAIN"

Mmmm...candlelight...My goth experience...
It all began in the beginning of the summer of 1996. Memorial Day weekend, actually. I was at Egil's, an SCA event near Eugene, Oregon, when this kid named Mouse introduced me to Vampire:The Masquerade. After Egil's, when we got back into Eugene, he introduced me to a couple of local GM's. One, Quentin, ran me in my first-ever role-playing game. (I later married him, but that's another story). It was a Sabbat run composed almost completely of the creation rites. Then I met Alder, who ran the live action game, Eugene By Night. He later moved up to Beaverton and runs Portland by Night, his link is below. One night, after watching the Craft at the theater and being in a particularly rebellious mood, I did something I had been wanting to do for years...I dyed my long blonde hair black. So, I spent the summer wearing black, playing Vampire, and rediscovering some music I hadn't really thought a lot about before, like Concrete Blonde(especially), Bauhaus, and the Cure. I also discovered a great local band called The Dark. They had a great gothic/bluesy feel to their music. One song, Dead Shall Rise, sortof became our theme song. The lead singer, Olen Kent, still plays at John Henry's in Eugene, and he wants everyone to know that The Dark are still together, and are planning a freakshow to end all freakshows! When I have more info, I'll post it here, and when I get the resources (ie, learn how) I'll post some samples here. Anyway, it was a great summer, it changed my life, and the reason I call this a gothwannabe page is because I make no claims to being a "real" goth. I had friends who were/are, and there are things about it that I like, but I doubt that "real" goths would consider me one. Other than my husband. (grin) If you're interested in Vampire:The Masquerade, or any of White Wolf's other great roleplaying games, be sure and check out the links below. And remember...try to stay out of the daylight!!
