March 6, 2004: Just a quick update with some info from the Egils website.
Greetings all from your friendly neighborhood Egil's XXX work party coordinators.
The weekend of Feb 28th we are starting overnight camping at work parties. For those of you who have a long drive or just want to camp out and get an early start on Sunday. Also we are starting a fighter practice on Saturday afternoon at 3:00pm for all the heavy and rapier fighters. So come and kill more then just blackberries. Hope to see you all soon.
Viscount Sir Durin
Egils XXX Work party Coordinator Team
SO for those of you that can go, GO!! We need to get those work hours in!!! We have 55-60 people in Clan Risio, we have no excuse to not get them done! Ok, I have to go back to the Pisces Party now. Thank you.
Until next time,
Foolishly Yours,
~Katherine Wells~
March 3, 2004: IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: House of Fools, Spartikus, NT Pirates, House Lunasin, House of Cards, Wolves Den, House of the Crescent Moon, and (possibly-I haven't talked to Bro Sam yet) Drover Home, are now known as CLAN RISIO. If you are in one of those groups, or rather, if you are now a member of Clan Risio and would like to/can do work parties, PLEASE SIGN IN UNDER CLAN RISIO when you get there. (There's a spot to say what group you're with). We need to get our 200 hours in so that we can have a reserved camping area. We are still part of the Council of Households, along with House Nightshade, House of Heresy, and House of Alchemy, but Clan Risio will be functioning as one household. As for me, the only weekend I have been able to secure off from work (Other than Gathering of Fools weekend April 17th, which by the way will now include all of Clan Risio-not that it didn't before, but it's more important now for others than Fools to be there) is March 27-28, and I plan to go to work party. Debbie says she can fit 7 people in her van and plans to go down then too, so if you live in Portland and want to go but have no transpo, email me. I also need to compile a list of all Clan Risio members attending Egils and the dimensions of their tents. So if possible, email me that too, asap, so I can get the info to the Master of Lands. Ok, that's all I have for now. Hope to hear from people soon.
Until next time,
Foolishly Yours,
~Katherine Wells~
February 19, 2004: Yeah, yeah, I suck at keeping my websites updated, I'm sorry. Just means this entry will be extra long. :) Ok, so where to begin? How about has everyone sent in their prereg yet? I plan to send out mine, my husband and my daughter's this week, and I want to remind everyone that there will be NO GATE ADMISSIONS. This year's Egil's is PREREG ONLY. If you wanna go, you gotta prereg. As far as I know work parties are still being held every weekend, and everyone needs to attend the "The Camping courtesy and safety class", which will be offered on site the following dates.
Feb. 7, 14, 21, 28
March 6, 13, 20, 27
Although, the Master of Lands told me the teacher would be willing to make a trip up to Portland if we got a large enough group to attend the class. In Council news, we are merging into one group, minus House Nightshade (although they will still be affiliated with us) and *I think*, House of Heresy, who wants to do their own thing. We have yet to come up with a clan name, although some ideas have been tossed around, the plan is for all the house heads (well, now subgroup representatives, I guess) to take the list of ideas, confer with their part of the group, and cast a vote for those that they represent. As Glyndon put it, kind of like electoral voting. Once that is decided, we will begin working towards our 200 hour work party camping requirement. (ie, hopefully DAMN SOON!) I'm still calling our April meeting the Gathering of Fools, though, because it's the 6th annual, so hey, it would muck things up to change it now. But all clan members are invited. I also plan to work with Ben (although he doesn't know it yet.. ;) ) to write a Clan Song, hopefully in time for Egil's. Also, my daughter and I (she's turning into a right handy little helper-person! ;) Ok, not so little, she's 16, but you know what I mean) were talking about having a couple sewing parties here at Grave Manor before the Gathering of Fools (and probably one or two after, as well). Several people have mentioned to me that they need to make new garb. Again, any clan member so inclined is welcome to join us. I will let everyone know when a date has been decided, but I'm thinking of sticking to what we've done in the past, which is a Saturday or Sunday afternoon (after I get off work, so I don't have to request a day off). Also, I would like to put out a call to all reaches of the Clan for loaner garb they'd like to donate to a clan pot, so to speak, stuff they don't wear anymore, doesn't fit, preferably that doesn't need more than minor repairs to be servicable. We periodically have newcomers who need garb, and wouldn't it be neat to have our own little Gold Key? :) Finally, I would love to update this website more, but unfortunately, I'm out of room. I don't have a checking account or a credit card with available credit so that I can upgrade my Angelfire account (which would provide me more room, for about $4.95/mo.), and I'd really hate to move it from where it is. I tried that once, and it was bad. I like Angelfire's webpage editing. And I'm getting older and more resistant to change. >P Anyway, if there's anyone that could help me out with that, that'd be nifty, most gracious, and would earn my eternal gratitude. I also have rolls of film dating back to Gathering of Fools 2003 that I haven't been able to afford to develop, and I need to get a new flatbed scanner for scanning pictures. I'm hoping that since that's all I want it for, I can find a smaller one for cheap. Or I could be horribly naive, I don't know. Crap, I just realized, if we're all merging into one clan, we also need to come up with some sort of flag or device of some kind to mark ourselves with, and then said devices need to be physically made for the event. So heopfully we decide soon! At any rate, I told you this would be extra-long.. ;) But I'm done now, and look forward to feedback on the topics I have presented here.
Until next time,
Foolishly Yours,
~Katherine Wells~
January 21, 2004: Ok ,maybe I should have waited until later in the day to post my journal yesterday. New info involves mostly information available on the Egil's website, but I will post the work party schedule here, first one is this Saturday, and large households requiring a specific reserved spot are required to fulfill 200 manhours work party time and attend a 1/2 hour camping class. Work party schedule is (with more dates to be added later) as follows:
Work Party Information
Current work party dates:
10:00 am - 3:00 pm
Jan. 24, 25
Jan. 31, Feb. 1
Feb. 7, 8
Feb. 14, 15
Feb. 21, 22
Feb. 28, 29
Hope to see you all there!
So, I can't make it to any of those, unfortunately, but I would like to encourage as many people as possible to go and start gettng those 200 manhours amassed for us. The only one I have been able to request off from work so far is March 27-28. The Master of Lands has requested that each house in the Council send at least one rep to the first work party. I need a volunteer from the Fools. Email me and let me know if you can go. Ok, that's it for now. More soon. Check the Yahoo groups for updates too.
Till next time,
Foolishly Yours,
Katherine Wells
January 20, 2004:Ok, so I'm thinking, Egil's is a yeah. And that I really want to get started on planning for it...I just don't know where to start. One thing, though, is to have a Council meeting of sorts. My birthday is Feb 13th, so we could have a meeting then. I've emailed the lists, but spread the word, k? :) I printed prereg forms today. I will make copies and have them available at the party for those that do not have the ability to d'l and print them. I guess that's it for now. More when I have more info to share.
Till next time,
Foolishly Yours,
Katherine Wells
January 6, 2004: Well, the 2004 Egil's Website is up. Somehow I don't feel all fired up about Egil's this year. Something to do with the nightmare of last Egil's, I think. It burned me out. For the whole rest if the season, and even into now. I don't want that to be the case, but I'm having a hard time getting excited about it. Someone help! Maybe updating the website will get the SCAdian motor in me revving...We'll see.
Till next time,
Foolishly Yours,
Katherine Wells
