Niece has remodeled four houses in WW and sold two of them now. I say "Niece Houses Look so much Niecer." Next, she's undertaking construction of a brand new one in PV out in the Tanglewood addition. It will be on the west side of that cul-de-sac at the end of Timberdale Drive. The plans look to me like a two story mansion that she will be building to sell. Of one thing I can assure you, it will be beautiful when finished.

I heard on OETV that the West Nile virus is spreading rapidly into our state. You saw in this paper how it's already in Garvin County. Fifty-six of our seventy-seven counties have found horses, birds or reptiles infected. They are the three "hosts" for it, living in their bodies; though only mosquitoes that bite and such their blood, can then spread the disease even to humans. Horses seem to be the worst hit thus far. Another animal concern to me is the upcoming vote on cock fighting. State question 687 will legally ban it in Oklahoma, which certainly seems proper to me. I think there's eight other questions on the Nov.5 ballot, but prohibiting that cruelty to roosters is one for which I plan to vote. Then there's the race of Republican Senator Jim Inhoff for re-election against his Democratic challenger, governor David Walters. Our speaker at Rotary Friday was from OKC as head of the State Chamber of Commnerce. I asked her which of them the State Chamber preferred to have in office. She answered "the one that's most pro-business." To my mind that would surely be encumbent Jim Inhoff.

President Bush only spoke for half an hour, but he laid out the case against Sadaam Hussein quite clearly, in my opinion. I've always been opposed to violence and certainly seek an environment of fewer weapons, having never owned a gun myself (though I know that police must have them). That serial sniper in Maryland who shot the eight separate isolated people makes me wish that some armed person could have spotted him in time to cut short that crazed killing spree. So I have to respect those who keep firearms. Thus, I thank GOD for president Bush on the international scene. He won't stand by and let Saddam play sniper in global affairs. Instead of allowing Iraq to fire long well aimed shots that will kill innocent civilians like the serial killer did, the rest of us have to do some preventive sharp shooting. Several leaders wanted Bush to talk about the economy Monday night, but he kept focused on a possible war. One of the recollections we have from Afghanistan (where everyone had a gun) is how some terrorists threw theirs down and came out with hands up in surrender; then set off secret suicide bombs trying to also kill the captors who were accepting them. That made old rules void. And now that shooting madness in Maryland seems to enact here at home just what sort of crazed enemies we'll face in the Mideast. Pray for our police. Specifically for Montgomery county Chief Charles Moose, a cop under such stress. My own sister Jane has a daughter, Dr.Amy Oden, has recently moved into that area from OKC to become a professor at D.C.'s Wesley Theological Seminary. (She was at OCU the past seven years and named "most popular professor" there.) I've thought of her young son with her since that 13 year old kid was shot after just arriving at school. What a wicked and dangerous world our children have to face! I opened the Bible to Micah 7 this morning. It begins "Woe is me," but goes on the find hope. Let's always remember the source of ours: "Come Lord Jesus."
