ANGELFIRE 1-01-08 It's a new look at an old subject, this book entitled "3:16:The Numbers of Hope" which I received as a Christbirth gift. Every Bible believer knows that it comes from the Gospel according to John and they can probably quote it. Though various translations have different wordings, the KJV says "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." Now the verse right before, Jn.3:15, says "eternal life," after Jesus had told about Moses lifting up the serpent in the wilderness (which was a type of His crucifixion as death itself was destroyed on the Cross). So eternal is even greater than "everlasting," a word which retains it's temporal meaning. Eternal depicts that divine region beyond time, or any sort of measure. Sunday morning when I sang at WW Nursing Home, I stopped to visit Haddie Payne, our state's most senior citizen. I had talked with her daughter living there, but it was my first time to speak and pray with Haddie who is 109 years old. What a fine photo and story about her Barry Porterfield had in the Democrat! She was born in 1898 at Stratford, about the same time as my late mother, Blanche Hazlitt, was born here in PV. It strengthens my faith in that eternal realm of which Jesus preached, the KINGDOM OF HEAVEN (where Blanche has gone and Haddie is heading) Thus, most Scripture translations now use "eternal" for the last word of Jn.3:16. But the KJV scholars meant to show us how this earthly time is fast running out. So in contrast, they translated it "life everlasting." And the Bible shows that Christ will be bringing back with Him all the spirits of the righteous. They are promised new glorified bodies, at their resurrection for His return; then caught up together with Him out of earth's Great Tribulation. His reign in earth will be a thousand years and then all will be handed over to the Father's ETERNITY, forever and ever. "Come Lord Jesus" is our prayer going into 2008. The book of Revelation tells about nations allied against Israel. I see that as prophecy of this War Against Terrorism. It began with hatred for the restored state of Israel in '48. Now it's expanded to be a global conflict, which will only end in the Parousia. Accept Jesus now as your Lord and Savior. Don't be late/in 2008!!! SoLong/Shalom, JosephA
ANGELFIRE 1-05-08 Well today's my late mother's birthday. She'd be 109 by now, though we lost her back in '96. Now I think the nation's ready to look eastward toward N.H. instead of at Iowa. Yet it did give us a hint of things to come, with the former Arkansas governor way out front. We've been down that road before. Remember the one who carried his Bible so conspicuously? So now he's trying to get his wife elected without using it. But Huckabee's from the opposite party and only shows his faith in positions taken on the issues. And in Clinton's party, Obama has already moved ahead of the wife that Bill want's to make our first woman president. Pundits are saying John McCain may jump up into a NH lead, and we will all know very shortly. He's been around long enough for us to see his solid American character. And his Viet Nam military background gives credence to what he says even yet, especially about the surge. He had that right, before anyone else.
On this fifth day, as we move into another year I've read from the Psalms (written for singing). The last five all begin "Praise ye the LORD (or hallelujah)." Five is the number that fit's human hands, each having a thumb and four fingers. Such is the Torah(Pentateuch)/ Genesis. through Deut., which echoes again in the Bible's central five books of poetry--Job, Ps., Pr., Ecc. & Song of Sol. Also in both tablets of the Ten Commandments (as both hands). Or the 5 month halves of the Hebrew year. And for us here today it's the five work days of a week. Also there's five wheels on each car (#5 as the spare). Thus I'd expect to find five Gospels in the NT. If you consider the book of Acts to be a Gospel (of the Holy Spirit), then that would make it. Thus the Holy Spirit is our fix-a-flat along with a spare tire. Our lives will surely have some flats in 08, but we can get aired up and going again by keeping the faith. But the worst time for a flat is at night, so we need a flash light in our glove compartment. I think of this children's song, "Jesus is the Light, light of the world/ Jesus is the Light, light of the world/ Jesus is the Light, light of the world. He's ever shining in my soul." Or another, "Lord keep my shining for Thee, (repeat). In a world filled with night, keep me pure keep me bright. Lord keep me shining for Thee, Lord keep me shining for Thee. Until I behold Thy face." Five is also a family size. So let's live '08 as members: "God is our Father, Christ Jesus is our bother and the blessed Holy Spirit is our guide. The devil's no relation 'cause we're a new creation. We are members of that family from the sky." And that's a "sky" above this material universe, or superverse: dwelling place of GOD and all the holy angels; from which the Lord Jesus will soon be returning to bring that new heaven and earth replacing this passing away world. As I look into Mt.Olivet when driving past, I call the nice new road going east from it's entrance "Sunrise Lane!" In Christ the future is ever bright (even with news of our falling stock market). Shout "hallelujah" and repeat it five times!! Finally, there's five sections of the whole Bible: (1)Books of Law (2)Books of History (3) Books of Poetry (4) Books of Prephecy and (5) the New Testament. Just look at your hand to remember them. Shalom, JosephA
ANGELFIRE extra 1-06-08 Here it is the first day of another week, or Lord's Day of divine grace. Such exceeds even the Sabbabth and includes all the other six days. Thus we might call it Grace Day. It's actually the fist Sunday in 2008. I think of the Children of Israel marching around Jerico seven times. Yahweh had promised it to them, and so with a great shout in Joshua 6:5 the walls fell down and they went in to destroy those idol worshippers. That would set a pattern for their Year of Jubilee every fifty years. Each seventh was a year of rest for the land, but after seven times seven there was a year of celebration, the Jubilee. That's still a name for happy times and just might fit our New Year's of today. I think it's drawn from Jubal, name of a Hebrew musician. So Jubilee's a time to sing and dance. But ram's horns were about all they had to play for music at the start. So Hebrew eschatology used that figure for the endtime, the angel Gabriel blowing his ram's horn (later, his trumpet). Remember that Jewish song: There's going to be a Great Day, there's going to be a Great Day. Angels in the sky promise that bye and bye, there's going to be a Great Day. Gabriel will warn you, some early morn you will hear his horn. 'Cause there's going to be a Great Day. We Christians claim that as the Parousia or appearing of our King Jesus. Possibly it will be in 2008.
Remember when the Communists sent their cosmonaughts into space? We called ours astronaughts, which means travelers to the stars. They though of the Cosmos as being ultimate with nothing beyond, since they claimed no Creator existed. We spoke of the Universe, which implies SomeOne beyond giving it that Unity from creation. But materialism, that atheistic view, worshipped matter as the final Reality. Thus the cosmos was eternal and beyond measure (as we considered GOD to be). Well now we've detected the rim of this material Universe. So GOD and all the holy angels are yet beyond, out there in Shamayim (a Hebrew name of highest heaven). Isn't that a long way from faith in matter itself. Science had determined that we've in an expanding Universe. So where's it going to expand withouth that realm beyond? That's why ANGELFIRE sees heaven and earth as Shamayim above and the Material Universe below, as in Genesis 1:1 & 2. The eastern Star shines from that realm beyond matter, so it was not an astronomical reality. In fact, the Majii were versed in astrology rather than natural science. Yet they are called Wise Men because they were open to divine direction. And this day is called Epiphany for "shining forth." The Love above for all mankind was shown in their coming from far countries to find the one born King of the Jews. It was probably some time after the Nativity, since they "found the child in a house" instead of that manger in a stable. SoLong/Shalom, JosephA
ANGELFIRE 1-08-08 C-SPAN2 showed the meeting Monday in Norman with OU president David Boren of those 17 national figures concerned about both of our political parties pulling together. All agreed that national interest should be first. Mayor Michael Bloomberg of NYC spoke as an Independent, saying that he is "no candidate." So that leaves the nation looking to New Hampshire today to see which candidates are named there. So far it seems that Baruch Obama and John McCain will come out ahead, though N.H. is just one small state. Iowa gave Mike Huckabee such a boost that he might stay out front. But evangelicals are fewer in the northeast, and they are the Arkie's base. Looks like Hillarie Clinton's tide of female support is faltering. My late father used to tell us "Sons, you must remember one thing about women. They always have the right to change their minds." My brother and I never asked why that didn't also apply to us. So I can't change that in my mind, even after all these years.
I'm still wondering about the assassination of Benazir Bhutto in Pakistan on Nov.27. She just seemed bent on getting killed, and must have expected those riots. To me it compares with the death of Rev.Martin Luther King nearly two score years ago. He had even predicted his own demise in a speech beforehand. And there were riots all over America in '69 when he was assassinated. He certainly became a martyr for black equality, with his birthday becoming a national observance each year. Perhaps Bhutto expected her death to impact Pakistan in like manner, or the world for women's liberation. Already the UN is being called in for an impartial investigation. And we know from her email that she'd blamed Musharrif several months beforehand, should such happen to her. Now the world's attention is back on that Israeli/Palestinian problem where the two state solution is on the table, as Bush makes his own first ever visit to Jerusalem. But Syria, Iraq, Iran and even Pakistan are parts of the larger equation. Bhutto's self sacrifice was the very opposite of suicide terrorists, who kill themselves just to take out others too. Her death had some nobility but theirs is only sheer deviltry; an expression of hate to the uttermost. That's the satanic sort of threat we face in this war on terrorism. Our life in Christ is good and meant to be lived for as long as given to us, though sometimes laid down to aid or preserve others. But it can never be thrown away in destroying others along with ourselves, as I see it. SoLong/Shalom, JosephA
ANGELFIRE 1-11-08 On this eleventh day (or figurative hour) of the New Year I've seen an Internet headline, BUSH VOWS TO RETURN TO ISRAEL IN MAY. He's just been there to implement that two state solution his administration proposed some time ago. So GW is certainly showing that he's no quitter. Yet his determination can't alter inevitable events, though he may die trying. I think of that song so popular in the Kennedy era, "To Dream the Impossible Dream." It was taken from a musical called "Man From LaMancha" (in Spain), which I never saw but understood to be a modern version of the ideal Medieval knight in the novel, Don Quixote. The song recalls to me it's last verse, "To bear the unbearable sorrow, to fight the unbeatable foe." Seems the song knighted president Kennedy in a popular way, though I failed to consider him as such. Knighthood and chivalry didn't come down from above like royalty supposely did. Chivalry comes from the same word as cavalry, or "horses." So knights loved their horses even before they had ladies to adore. Each had just his own so whole military units on horseback came much later. Here and now our WW roundup club is celebrating 50 years. This week's Gazette says "We've had cowboys and cowgirls in WW since the town has been here, but it took the grit of a few good men with a good town backing them to bring a roundup club and rodeo arena into being." Work's underway for our biggest and best ever this July. And if cowboys can be seen as present day knights, I'm curious to see them more. Maybe a delegation from our WW arena could go round up, then bull dog or rope down that Middle East situation between Israel and Palestine (two states or not). Come to think of it, GW's something of a cowboy himself, ha. So they might join him in May--just joking. But ANGELFIRE honestly believes that only our Lord Jesus Christ gives the answer, which He will determine at His final return. Waiting for that Day, let us remember His words "Blessed are the peace(shalom) makers, for they shall be called the sons of GOD." Let's rope in any of our hatefulness and bind up/bull dog our inner carnal angers each day of 2008. "Lord, Let there be peace in earth and let it begin with me" is THE song. "Let there be peace on earth, the peace that was meant to be. With THEE as our Father, sibling all are we. Let us walk with each other in perfect harmony. Let peace begin with me, let this be my promise now. With every step I take, may it be my constant vow to take each moment and live each moment in peace eternally. Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me." SoLong for now, JosephA
LORD'sDAY extra 1-13-09 A second SONday into 2008 began for me looking out my upstairs window to see the sky red just before sunrise. As I sit up on the bedside I see it so often that way. The Lord Jesus told us to watch even more for "the signs in the timnes" of His return. That's why I check the news as soon as I've read the Bible. This morning it was about GW's visit to Dubaie, that Arab city considered to be the fastest growing in the world, there in Bahrain which is so oil rich. In the debate last night, Rep.Ron Paul kept saying that we are giving three times as much aid to the Arabs as to Israel and no on questioned him. I suppose he meant business rather than direct contributions. Of course Israel doesn't have any oil to sell, so I feel sure he twisted the facts. He's a sly guy, certainly intelligent (as a doctor would have to be). But just not credible to me. I stuck with John McCain even though the low man Fred came forward with strong ideas there in S.Carolina. Sure hope McCain can win there and go on to Michigan to beat Romney up there. That would about assure him of the nomination, but Super Tuesday's only a week or so away. It will settle things for the fall election of 2008, unless the Lord returns before then. If Obama gets the Democratic nomination, McCain would have a hard time winning. But either way we'd have a good leader I feel. Yet McCain could probably beat Hillarie, especially if Bill keeps talking. In the War on Terror there appears to me no other end than the Parousia, GW's efforts not-withstanding. They may buy some time for the world but won't be the Bible's true Shalom. SoLong, JosephA
ANGELFIRE 1-15-08 Yesterday's gain in the stock market was good to hear after all the recession talk. We had become so politically correct in economic reports that the "r" word was seldom used and the "d" word totally avoided. Monday's rally has freed up the subject enough for presidential candidates to state openly their financial views of what lies ahead. And Michigan's primary today (Tues.) could be a model for the rest of America, though it's only a Republican election (no Demo primary). Romney was born in Detroit and his father, George Romney, was once their favorite governor. So that's a tremendous advantage. George even appeared to name his son after the Michigan "mitt" that we all see on the map of that state. Now Mitt is there with promises to return prosperity as it was in days past. But his major rival, John McCain, is more honest. He's already said that those auto industry jobs are permanently gone. So he points to the emerging green industry and other avenues of recovery. He's not one to pander. Bible tells how Israel had "itching ears" and false prophets told the people just what they wanted to hear. That was when politics and religion were all the same. But Christians are not easily fooled by having their ears tickled, or should not be. Look at Ezekiel 34 where the prophet is told to warn against all the shepherds of Israel as seeking their own gain ahead of the people's. We've seen that repeated so often as religion brought into politics. But what about politics brought into religion by someone who looks so appealing, well dressed and sounds so intelligent. Michigan will have made it's decision when you read this and ANGELFIRE hope's it is for McCain to be pitcher. Let Mitt be catcher instead. Isn't that were his name fits. And he'd still be in full view, right behind home plate. But our game is led by the pitcher and we're up against global terrorism from that opposing team, as we await the final Umpire's coming, our Lord Jesus Christ. So long for now & Shalom, JosephA
ANGELFIRE 1-18-08 We see the candidates walking on tip toes through so many issues in order not to offend any voting group. And everyone is ready to apologize if the truth seems to have hurt some opponent. That way you can get still more publicity, which all are seeking. "There's no such thing as bad publicity" is the axiom. Tomorrow (Sat.) attention will be focused on S.Carolina, where John McCain's been strong, even though he's the Senator from out in AZ. He lost S.C. in his presidential bid 8 years ago, and so far every Republican candidate who has finally been elected since 1980 has first won in that state. I had hoped he could take MI, but Romney's from there and won it. So S.C. is crucial for McCain now. Yet after two Republican administrations, it could well be time for a party change. Has there ever been such a variety of candidates in sight on both sides: Military hero/Senator, Baptist preacher/ex-governor of AK, Mormon business executive/ex-governor of Mass., plus a medical doctor (named PAUL), all on the Republican side and a female or a black candidate from the Democratic party. Also a billionaire Jew who instead of being mayor of NYC, may yet run as an Independent; though he declined at the meeting of national leaders in Norman Ok with our former governor/now OU president, David Boren (I saw on a blog that such was likely the true purpose of that meeting). Things should really get exciting on all sides in the months ahead, beginning next with Nevada's Democratic primary and then TsunameTuesday Feb.5th with a "surge" of primaries. Now surge brings the War in Iraq back to mind. All the attention on our economy has pushed it to second place. But we must continue to pray for our troops over there. Maybe some can be coming home sooner rather than later, as GW himself has suggested. I'll close with Titus 2:13-14, "Looking for that BLESSED HOPE, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people." SoLong/Shalom, JosephA
LORD'sDAY-extra 1-20-08 Glen and I went to LARC to minister in the chapel, and we had a fine turnout of inmates. Glen used Lk.11 for the Bible lesson, then took us to Mt.6 for the more familiar version of the Lord's Prayer. I hadn't noticed how in Mt. Jesus goes next to forgiveness, while in Lk. He talks of getting the Holy Spirit. Glen noted that Luke wasn't present so was passing along someone's report, while Matthew was likely there to hear it for himself. I led "Spirit of the Living God Fall Afresh on Me" for our closing song. Then an inmate who is still a minister and attends faithfully gave the benediction. He prayed for all the needs that other inmates had mentioned. So it was a poweful closing to the service, and no mention was made of the presidential race; nor even of MLKjr Day. It was focused on the faith, as worship should be with JESUS AS LORD.
Reports again of UFOs sited down over a north TX town are in the news. Sounded just like the days past when such became so widespread. Reminds ANGELFIRE how the Lord said their would be signs in the heavens before His return. So with all the political excitement, let's not forget to be prepared for that far greater Day. It was a year ago I think, that our PV Action Figure hero Geezer, went on top of our H.T. and painted "Shalom," just as I'd wanted actually done. It was only a comic strip, but that's the word for believers (meaning GOD's peace). Whatever lies ahead, Christ is coming to finally receive us to Himself. Hallelujah!
ANGELFIRE 1-22-07 Setting the MLKjr holiday observance on the third Monday caused Congress to put all other national observances on Mondays. The long weekend has been a convenience that allows for travel time so that they are like mini-vacations. Yet it costs too much for gasoline any more to do much travel. And holidays tend to fade in meaning when changed to different dates. It's somewhat like the headline I just saw on MS-NBC: MLK's COMPLEXITY IGNORED by historians. Haven't read that article, but plan to later. Just sense a feeling of depth in those three words that also apply to this presidential race. It's equally complex to ANGELFIRE. Looks like the Democrats will be split in a black vs female standoff. If only Oprah Winfrey had run instead of backing Obamah, then black women would not have to face such a dilemma. Yet most are already forsaking Clinton to support Obama as he stands his ground against Hillarie. And that's in spite of her husband's own jest that he was the "first black president." Wouldn't you know that double talk Bill now seeks to steal that possible distinction for himself before Baruch Obama can gain it. Instead of complexity, the word is "deceptive" for Bill. Yet the black females won't be taken in by his efforts to get them behind Hillarie. Remembering Monica Lewinski, they'll vote for Obama or just drop out of the Democratic party, in my opinion. Or perhaps Hillarie will shut her husband up and win for herself. Now that would be a victory for all females, black or white; though it would pull the rug out from under the troops in Iraq, who still need our prayers every day. And if we pray about the Middle East, we'll see how things are shaping up for JESUS to soon return. Instead of a two state solution, it will be His Kingdom forever! So let's join in heart with a shout of glory, just as those angels did on Nativity Night so long ago in the sky over Bethlehem. So long and Shalom, JosephA
ANGELFIRE 1-25-08 The Lord Jesus once told the Twelve how bad things would become in days ahead, then added that they must "Not be overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good." We know now that, as in the Lord's Prayer, He was referring to "the Evil one" that would continue to rule this world until until He finally returns. Thus the tradition developed of keeping politics out of religion. The latter was considered a devil's domain that was never proper in preaching. So when folks gathered for worship, they expected to learn about the glorious Kingdom of heaven and not the ugliness of earth. And in Rotary, which I first joined as pastor at Erick OK in the fifties, I was told "neither politics nor religion" should be in any program presented at Club dinners. Now we've come clear round to welcome religious expression on the campaign trail; and candidae Huckabee is a preacher turned politician now running for president. Though it's looking bleak for him financially, he's really brought up spiritual issues more clearly than ever. And if he has to drop out, ANGELFIRE hopes he's throwing his support to John McCain, especially before Feb.5/Super Tuesday. Kindness is one of the nine religious fruits of the Spirit (Gal.5:22). And it was visible here in those two front page stories just days apart by Jim Richardson, on "Labor of Love." The kindness in PV to that little cancer victim gave her a transformed bedroom, and home also. Here in WW the Gazette's headline was LOCAL MAN CRITICALLY INJURED IN HOUSE FIRE. He's been on my paper route for years, and keeps a dog that I've seen a lot. The ceiling fire fell and burned him as he was seeking his pet. It was rescued but he's still in the Baptist Burn Center of OKC. So kind hearted folks in WW are chipping in at donation at sites around town to help with his medical expenses. I see both communities showing the Christlike concern that overcomes evil with good. Such is beyond politics and moves toward the love for one another here on earth which Jesus sought to bring about: "This is My commandment, that ye love one another, as I have loved you." It's akin to kindness (rather than the romantic love of Valentine Day). I'd mentioned comic strip Geezer's proposing to Faye at long last. And while their marriage is a demonstration of love, these acts of community goodness and kindness are "agape," the kind of greater love shown by the Lord Jesus Christ, who is coming again very soon. SoLong/Shalom, JosephA
LORD'sDAY extra 1-27-08 It's almost a month into this new year and everything's become gloomy about the economy. The stimulus package being prepared by Congress may get it up and going again, but I don't like it being compared to a shot in the arm. That sounds just like the addictive society we are trying to combat. In fact it made ANGELFIRE think of steroids, which have so invaded athletics in our time. Yet we sure can't let things slow down to a stand still economically. That's the heart beat of almost everything else, though the Kingdom of GOD doesn't reguire money. Our Lord even told us to "Lay not treasures up on earth, where moth corrupts and thieves break in to steal. But lay up your treasure in heaven." Seems this was just after the Rich Young Ruler, who asked what good thing he had yet to do for eternal ife," had walked away sorrowful when told to "go sell what you have and give to the poor, and come follow Me. Then you will have treasures in heaven." He was too addicted to his earthly things to let go of them; so committment was his "one thing" lacking. I think of a little song with a bouncy tune from days long past, "Turn it over to Jesus, cha cha; turn it over to Jesus cha cha; repeat, repeat. And you can smile the rest of the day." Second verse goes "Give the glory to Jesus..." and third says "Take your worries to Jesus..." Or an ancient hymn that goes "Jesus, the very thought of Thee with sweetness fills the breast." How calming it is to silently sing such songs if we lay awake during the night. We are on stage for GOD and all the holy angels to hear us sing in our heart. Thus we can have plenty of attention! Perhaps all the departed spirits of the righteous (who are with Jesus) can also hear our inward singing. So long/Shalom
ANGELFIRE 1-29-08 As we watched GW's final State of the Union address last night, I'm guessing that you admired his boldness the same as I did in the face of so much criticism. I couldn't see any tele-prompters; just the pages that lay before him (which he hardly ever consulted). So he must have memorized that nearly hour of careful talk . The pre-speech pundits had offered so much commentary that I didn't listen afterward. Their "pre-buttal" was a clever tactic by the Democrats, instead of waiting for the usual rebuttal (which was to be by a lady governor of KA). It all showed how women are taking over with House Speaker Nancy Pelosey presenting the President and candidate Hillary Clinton as possible successor there in the audience; then all the many females in media having their say so. Yet Barack Obama might have signified just such a shift to leadership in years ahead by blacks. After two terms for Repubs, a Demo administration seems quite possible; though ANGELFIRE has eyes on John McCain, as a Navy guy. Hearing that chant "Mack is back" recalls my sailor days in the 40s when we were all just Mack to each other. Later, I saw OK's Church Norris pushing for Republican Gov./preacher Mike Huckabee and claiming that billionaire Gov./business tycoon Mitt Romney was trying to buy the Whitehouse for himself. Norris has money too, but complained he can donate only a small amount legally for Huckabee's election. I felt his protest was valid but am resigned to how loud "money talks" in the political arena. There's even an MD running, and they usually are flush. But Dr.Ron Paul's used mainly the Internet and may drop out soon. I certainly doubt that he will get to St.Paul for the Convention up there. FL's primary today may end a lot of hopefuls, even Rudy Giulliani, who staked his all on that state. But he may yet become a great v.p. candidate. A week from today over twenty primaries will settle contenders for the main race in Nov. And a year from now we'll be seeing our new national leader, unless the LORD JESUS comes first. He with the Father & Spirit are the ONE we seek as we pray "Lead us not into hard testing, but deliver us from the evil one." So long, JosephA
ANGELFIRE 1-31-08 Usually after midnight in WW if you lie awake you'll hear long trains going north or south and sounding their horns. Instead last night it was fire truck sirens and a couple of refinery whistle/alarms that drowned out the railroad sounds. But all is calm here this morning as we begin the shortest month. Feb. is the true "moonth" as it's 28 days are how long the moon takes to go around this planet Earth; tho we add an extra day in this leap year. Then two or three days are added regularly onto all the other "moonths" just to stretch them out into 365 days in the year long journey of Earth around our Sun. Other calendars, like the Jews or Arabs, still stick with lunar dates, which causes their holidays to fluctuate earlier and later on the one we measure from Christ's birth. Right now the focus is on Super Sunday as Patriots play Giants and Super Tuesday when 22 more state primary elections will show who gets nominated from each party for the general election in Nov. Right now it looks to ANGELFIRE like John McCain will face either Clinton or Obama. From the debate last night, I think Barack may just get it away from Hillary. She smiles so much that I feel she'd even make a good looser. Yet hard to beat if McCain had to face her, since there are so many more female voters in America than males. And the blacks attracted to Obama would still vote for her before a Republican. So we'll have to wait, even after Super Tuesday, Supersmiler just might keep her lead. I recall a line from that drama "Death of a Salesman" about Willie Lowman, the anti-hero, who made it in life "just riding a shoeshine and a smile." That might fit Mitt Romney also, the supersalesman. Or lastly, let me mention Geezer again, since he is Kevin Stark's take on an elderly Superman. He and Faye are to get married on ValentineDay, which will likely be a Superwedding, It's in the middle of this month about matters of the heart. Maybe that's why Feb. includes the birthdays of America's two greatest presidents, Washington and Lincoln. Though we hold them in such honor, let us never forget what the Bible says: "The heart of man is deceitful above all things, who can know it?" Jer.17:9. Only the Blood of Christ can break Satan's power over it. In Jesus we see the smile of GOD and hear the bells of heaven ring. Shalom, JosephA PAGE 134 TO 133
