ANGELFIRE 7-02-06

GOD forbid that we are going to have to conduct trials for four or five hundred little Saddams down there at Gitmo. Look how long his is taking over in Iraq. All the legal fees could help pay reconstruction costs. And the cost of providing lawyers and full civil rights treatment for nearly five hundred of these Al-Quida associates may sink our ship; especially if any of them become international heroes in the course of prolonged trials. We're even hearing the suggestion now that Saddam might be the one who can unify Iraq if he's allowed back into negotiations between the disputing factions. Such a precedent would make time down at Gitmo a badge of honor with entitlement to federal benefits. A couple of the inmates are already suing secretary of defense Rumsfield for personal damages that would pay them millions each. Whew!

Did you know that many of the earliest colonists in America were criminals? The Brits didn't want the expense of decent prisons, so they shipped them over here to stay. And many others were indentured servants (people so deep in debt they could never get free). But when the colonies put a stop to such unwanted immigrants, the Brits began dumping their unwanted way down in Australia instead. All this was before the lucrative African slave trade began, and long before our Declaration of Independence with it's "all men are created equal, and endoued by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, among which are the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." I tried to quote this on "Song With Spoken Word," but got it a little garbled. Though it's only Thomas Jefferson rather than Scripture, each of us should remember it every the 4th of July, birthday of America. And I also remember my visit to the strangest metropolis I'd ever seen back in '85. It was the capitol of Honduras, Tegusagalpe. I've been to most major cites of the US, spent a day in Montreal and in Athens, days in Jerusalem, and weeks in London. But the words that day of another tourist in Honduras still come to mind. When I spoke to her, I said "I'm an American." She replied "And so am I." I added that I was from Oklahoma and askd "What's your state?" She proudly answered "Guatemala." Startled, I nearly said "That's not one of the states." But I sensed her message, so replied "Oh, that's fine." She saw it that way back then and so do the Hispanic immigrants of today, since we're all from North or South America. LORD help us Americans know where and when to show hospitality, "for in so doing some have entertained angels unaware." Shalom

ANGELFIRE 7-05-06 Independence Day celebrations in PV this year have carried the pain of that highway calamity down near Madill last Friday, when one young family suffered such loss of life. It was headlines in our Weekend edition and front page again in Tuesday's. Such a bolt out of the blue striking a family coming from church camp truly boggles the mind. ANGELFIRE's view is that we're warned to be ready for that Day of the Lord which is coming at some moment, in the twinkling of an eye. As we pray for those left to grieve, let's renew our allegiance to King Jesus, who vanquished even death for those who accept His sacrifice on the cruel tree.

The president's roadmap for peace in the Middle East has sought to route Israeli and Palestinian traffic safely in their opposite lanes. But the latter lurched back across the line when Palestinians elected that terrorist party, Hamas, as a majority in office. The "democracy" that Israel wanted them to gain has backfired with that lethal election. President Abbas doesn't share the Hamas hatred, but has to abide by their voting. So now the peace plan is in pieces and calls to the global 911 have too much resemblance to 9/11.

I sang "It Took A Miracle" on Thurs.6:30 "Song With Spoken Word" and told how the English first thought it said "took America." Back in the fifties when that song was new, they still felt that England had won WW II. And their empire was called "Great Britain." Of course all that's changed long since. But the song suggests to my mind that this nation was a miracle in the Biblical sense. As Yahweh called the twelve tribes out of Egypt, so the Thirteen colonies were called out of British economic dominion. So George III compares to Pharaoh and George Washington to Moses. Even calling our birthday "The Fourth" sounds like a birth, as Abraham Lincoln would phrase it "brought forth on this continent a new nation." Though "forth" and "fourth" have different meanings, they sound alike. There's frequently a play on words that way in Scripture. Forth means "forward, onward, out into view." Now hasn't that been our destiny so far? So we celebrated our Forth. Oh America, look to the LORD and buckle up with His Word for the risky days ahead! Keep praying for our troops that Shalom (God's peace) may be upon them; and us also.

ANGELFIRE 7-8-06 Niece and I always go up to PV for the fireworks display, though last year was the first time we'd gone early enough to get into the stadium. Then we viewed them as before, from several blocks away this time. But such distance looses the impact of being right there beneath "the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air" (as our national anthem describes that British assault on Ft. McHenry). It was early in the 19th century and the blue field in our flag had very few stars. At first there were only thirteen, all in a circle to show "a new constellation in the heavens." Wasn't that predictive of fireworks that would follow each Independence Day signifying our nation's birth? And this year even the launch of our Discovery space shuttle to the ISS fit in beautifully. Being the third try, it had not been scheduled that way, but gave added meaning as it went fo-r--t---h on the Fourth. Ours has been a nation of going forth in faith. After the Columbia disaster three years ago, hidden dangers had haunted NASA. But the crew's safe arrival Thursday at the International Space Station rewarded all it's careful and tedious preparation. Certainly overshadows the failed effort of N.Korea to launch their long range war missile toward us on our big holiday. That "dong" only flew for minutes before dropping into the Sea of Japan. No blessing from Providence shown there, nor upon subsequent efforts (now being described as targeted at Hawaii). Hopefully it will have disgraced that dictator, Kim Jong Il, so that he too may fall out of the N. Korean sky. We're told that he's like a god to the populace over there, where hatred for the USA has been promoted to unite them ever since the Korean War a half century ago. Rev. 8:10 & 11 tells where a gigantic star named Wormwood finally fell to earth (wirmwood means "bitter experience"), so we can pray that Kim will become another Wormwood. Instead, the opposite side of our globe is truly action central in these last days leading up to the final appearing of Christ Jesus as King of kings and Lord of lords. And that's where the fireworks will be anything but beautiful.

ANGELFIRE 7-15-06 Dr.Earl Marlatt was one of my professors at Perkins Seminary in Dallas who had become a famous poet. He poetically said that "You must learn to laugh at life sometimes to keep from wanting to leave it." These lines which came to me from boyhood friends in IL illustrate his point:

Subject: ANGELS COME IN ALL TYPES
A woman was at work when she received a phone call that her daughter was very sick with a fever. She left her work and stopped by the pharmacy to get some medication. She got back to her car and found that she had locked her keys in the car. She didn't know what to do, so she called home and told the babysitter what had happened. The baby sitter told her that the fever was getting worse. She said, "You must find a coat hanger and use that to open the door." The woman looked around and found an old rusty coat hanger that had been left on the ground, possibly by someone else who at some time had locked their keys in their car. She looked at the hanger and said, "I don't know how to use this." She bowed her head and asked God to send her help. Within five minutes a beat up old motorcycle pulled up, with a dirty, greasy, bearded man who was wearing an old biker skull rag on his head. The woman thought, "This is what you sent to help me?" But, she was desperate, so she was also very thankful. The man got off of his cycle and asked if he could help. She said, "Yes, my daughter is very sick. I stopped to get her some medication and I locked my keys in my car. I must get home to her.  Please, can you use this hanger to unlock my car?" He said, "Sure." He walked over to the car, and in less than a minute the car was opened. She hugged the man and through her tears she said, "Thank You So Much! You are a very nice man." The man replied, "Lady, I am not a nice man. I just got out of prison today.  I was in prison for car theft." The woman hugged the man again and with sobbing tears cried out loud, "Oh, Thank you God! You even sent me a professional!"

From years of ministering to such, I felt a great uplift in this story. It proves that GOD is still working in mysterious ways doesn't it. Now I didn't get to sing "We're On The Upward Way" on KJCS as I'd promised in ANGELFIRE but I'll use it later, if the Lord gives us still more time; though events look very grim in Israel. Read Ps.122 once more and know that Jerusalem's meant to be the city of Shalom, or Salem as in Gen.14.

ANGELFIRE 7-20-06 I heard that line of America The Beautiful revised by a tv person to "from sea to boiling sea" as descriptive of this current heat wave. And this past week has seen a kind of "global warming" in the Middle East with Israel's declaration of war on Hezbollah, for taking two of their soldiers captive. So now we learn of all those katusha rockets that the terrorist militia has secretly stashed in southern Lebanon, estimated at 13 thousand (with a thousand of them already used). No wonder the Israelis are hitting back so hard with little interest in a cease fire. So now the UN has an opportunity to show some worth, if it can do more than just pass another resolution (which will go unenforced as usual). Allowing Israel time to destroy those missiles stashed over in Lebanon seems proper right now, before any more fall upon Haifa or any get to Tel Aviv down south. I've seen both cities, but never got up to Beirut, where Hezbollah has it's headquarters. That's surely the reason Israel hit so hard up there immediately. Their army has a comrade policy like our marines, "none ever left behind" and evidently the two taken are still alive; though they may be soon kidnapped clear into Syria. That would really fuel the fires of hate for a larger war, maybe international in scope.

On my first visit to Megiddo in '77, I learned that "Har" means mountain in Hebrew. So the valley east called Harmegiddon is where that final battle will be fought at the Lord's return. It's like a northern gateway to the Promised Land. I also met the author of "Late Great Planet Earth," who was there with a group. Never read his book and can't recall his name right now, but that title certainly seems to fit the current situation. Now I remember Hal Lindsey. So many years ago. Back to Mt. Megiddo, you'll notice how the h is dropped in New Testament use of "hallelujah," and it's the same with Armageddon. Being written in Greek, the sound gets changed, though the meaning remains. Allelujah is still "praise the LORD" and Armageddon is that valley below Mount Megiddo. Just as Jesus is the Greek way of saying Joshua (more correctly in Hebrew, Yeshua). Come Lord Yeshua, we pray.

ANGELFIRE 7-22-06 Wasn't that a good report about PV being one of the top ten towns for investment in the nation! It's only lack was "night life," which Monday evening's city wide meeting at the Boza Center will surely address. In fact, such gatherings could create a kind of night life by having regular town hall sessions. And now that water rationing has started, the city council's water fights could be part of the night life. We could have them in the swimming pool. Or am I just spouting off from water on the brain?

Seriously though, it's been a major matter in the history of humanity. Just look at most of the largest cities on Earth. They are located on rivers or lakes where there's access to plenty of H2O i.e. London and the Thames, Rome and the Tiber, Cairo and the Nile, Caracas and the Carribean Sea, or NYC and Frisco on the bay areas. The list could go on and on. Even the Garden of Eden in Gen.2 was watered by a river that flowed out from the East. So water is an essential item for physical survival. And now as we earthlings are examining our possibilities in outer space, we're so very eager to find it already there, or at least the ingredients for producing it. Astronomy has detected it with spectrometry even as far away as other galaxies. That's because hydrogen and oxygen are such common elements in the universe.

And the Bible's account of creation begins "the earth [matter] was void and without form (fluid) and darkness was upon the face of the deep" (space or maybe water). Then it ends in Rev.22 with a river of life flowing out from the New Jerusalem. Old Jerusalem had no river as it was up in the mountains. Yet there was one underground, as seen in the New. What a powerful picture in verse 17: "And the Spirit and the bride say, 'Come!' And let him who hears say 'Come!' And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely." I take that figuratively as descriptive of man's meaning for existence. It flows from the throne of the Lamb (Christ Jesus). Through Him we can drink of all the previous revelation in those sixty-six books. So it's a supernatural (metaphysical) water. I have another view to add later, which comes from Jn.19:34. But for now, thank GOD for the living water, that kind Jesus gave to the woman at the well. We need it even more than we need rain, despite all this heat we are enduring these days. Hallelujah for living water!

ANGELFIRE 7-25-06 Here in WW the streets have had their annual resurfacing and look so nice. I think it will renew you just to come drive around town, the way driving on them does for me with my route from the Democrat. We've had sadness here at the Pinkhouse, so the streets help me look to the new. As I wrote about that river of life in Rev.22 for the last ANGELFIRE, I also mentioned Jn.19:34 giving it's source as from the Lamb. We read there that John himself saw the blood and water flow forth when a Roman soldier plunged his spear in the Savior's side, even before the river of life Revelation shown to him later. Since the executioners were not going to break His legs, it was done to make sure the Lord's body was dead. Nevertheless, that act fulfilled another Scripture and opened the fountain of life (blood of Christ mingled with water). No wonder that such a spear became the sacred relic to early Christians. It was known as the Lance of Longinus in an apocryphal "Gospel of Nicodemus." And it was claimed by Constantine as the sign of divine authority when he became the first "Christian" emperor in the fourth century: then also by his successors and even by Charlemaigne, who founded the Frankish empire much later, starting the ninth century. Thankfully, Protestants did away with relics in the sixteenth, so present day Evangelicals are free of that sort of superstition now.

Through the Middle Ages the spear was passed around by royal families until the Hapsburgs bought it to keep in Vienna. Napoleon sought to gain possession of it to make him emperor of the whole world, but was defeated beforehand at Austerlitz. Then it was seen by the young Adolph Hitler of Austria in 1912, who had it brought to Germany's Nurenberg (Nazi center) years later after his conquest of Austria. Seems that Hitler had occult notions about it's power to help him. I'm recalling now how shocked I was in '77 visiting Israel, when our Israeli guide said that Hitler had been a Christian. Such a sordid notion must have been from Hitler's getting hold of that sacred spear; though I feel it marked him as an antiChrist instead. Well after WW II our general George Patton brought it over here to the USA and then we gave it back, (to the French I'm thinking). A novel was published in '73 entitled "The Sacred Spear" which included even more legends. I never read it, but have wondered if the real AntiChrist of 666 fame now ready to appear might get hold of it to claim his ruler status. He-she-or-it is to create a global dictatorship, as I read Revelation; and will demand that every citizen take that mark of the beast. True believers can see in Jn.19:34 a source of divine power greater than the military power of that Lance of Longinus to enable them to refuse. Our faith is in the saving blood that came forth after Jesus had died on the Cross. He cried "It is finished," meaning the work of redemption. Thus we are washed in baptism and then drink in communion of that fountain that yields spiritual cleansing, both outwardly and inwardly. If you've watched my channel 2 Thurs.6:30 "Song With Spoken Word," then you know the theme:"There is a fountain filled with blood, drawn from Immanuel's veins. And sinner's plunged beneath that flood loose all their guilty stains." As the war continues between Israel and Hezbollah (and terrorism increases everywhere), we must keep ready for His coming in glory and majesty to judge the world: "when the dead in Christ shall rise first and the bodies of those who sleep in Him be changed along with those of us alive to be made like unto His own glorified body" (words spoken as final committal at the cemetery and facing the east). Hallelujah!

ANGELFIRE 7-29-06 I heard on TV that the word "google" had now become official in English for taking a look at something. During the last few years it's the only search engine I've used on the Internet. Seemed to give more information than any other, so have just stuck with it. And it recalls a comic strip from my childhood days called Barney Google. He was a guy with great big eyes that got into everything. How I enjoyed the comics back then, long before we even had television. Then "google eyes" was used to describe a person's appearance. I think it meant a great big wide eyed look. So now when you "google," you're taking a close look (as the o-o in the word appears like two eyes just as in the word "look"). Seems that such behavior was considered rude in former times, but not anymore. Part of the advantage of all my years of study is in being able to find valid information out of the vast library online. I can see the sales pitch behind almost everything and then just move on to find better stuff. Very few reports are only for the sake of truth, but always have an ax to grind. I was reading a page called ThreeWorldWars.com about the "conspiracy theory" of history. I'd heard previously the view of FDR´s subtle tactics in provoking the Japanese so that they´d attack Pearl Harbor and get us into war, but not of Woodrow Wilson doing the same to drag us into WW I from the sinking of that ship Lucetania loaded with Americn tourists. Then the author tried to get you signed up to swallow his conspiracy theory for WW III. He claimed to know how it was coming about as is already planned. But I didn´t buy into his sucker bait. Yet I found an article there on the conspiracy view of history which was quite interesting. It said that our public schools all teach an "accidental theory" which ignores the planned events that control human affairs. Of course there´s no mention of divine Providence or Satanic influence as we´re too enlightened for that now. Our rootage in a Biblical view is long gone, it seems. But the Middle East is the current world stage that causes us to abruptly return and look at the BOOK again (or google it for an Almighty hand in earthly affairs).

ANGELFIRE. 8-01-06 Didn't July just fly by? Now you and I can heave a sigh, or else go cry. Though here's this guy who wonders why I didn't try to bake more pie up in the sky, for bye and bye. Guess that I am still too shy.

That verse that came from out of the blue as a reminder for me to "lay not up treasures on earth...but lay up treasure in heaven" Down here all the alarm bells are ringing, the warning lights flashing and danger sirens blowing in the hourly news events. Even that trumpet of the ages is shaking old hell's foundation. How much more is required to get mankind's attention?

Yet the world continues to laugh about sin. People go on making fun about wickedness as though they will never be called to an accounting. There is a godlessness abroad in the land that I first sensed from that "black humor" which filtered in from England. Monty Python is a name that comes to mind from back in the sixties. It has poisoned our spiritual life so that to read Ps.90, "A prayer of Moses the man of God" now seems utterly alien for this nation. Things that are clearly noted in Scripture as abominations to the LORD are only subjects of constant joking. Everything has to be funny. No wonder the wrath of Yahweh is falling upon America. If this global terrorism is of Satan, and I believe it is, then Who had the key that released him upon us to "roam about the earth?" (Job 1:7)   All our military force cannot destroy such an enemy, because he is immaterial spiritual corruption. And such is widespread today. Even those spouting Scripture can sometimes be the worst of all. This isn't the Yuletide and now is no time to just be jolly, because what's happening around the world should scare the hell out of us. We need to get down on our knees in front of the Almighty; even privately to fall on our faces before our LORD God; because in spite of America's fine lady Secretary-of-State and her noble efforts in the Middle East, THAT GREAT AND TERRIBLE DAY IS AT HAND. Now hear this:

The market place is empty, no more traffic in the street. All the village scenes are idle; no more time to harvest wheat. Busy housewives cease their labor, in the courtroom no debate. Work on earth is all suspended as the King comes through the gate. OH THE KING IS COMING, the King is coming. I just heard the Trumpet sounding and now His face I'll see. The King is coming, the King is coming. Praise GOD, He's coming for me.

Hallelujah & Shalom PS I see by the hit counter that several hundred have punched up this page each of the past few months. You online readers get to see "the finished product," because I always add refinement to the original copy that has to be sent in promptly for the paper. This online edition allows me to make clarification as well as correct overlooked mistakes. So glad to have you as an online reader. I know it's August and I must start that page next. JA
