Legend vs. Jankowski…A look back at their rivalry

[You can hear the frantic voice of Commissioner Williams on the Pay Per View pre view show, hyping up this great feud, looking back over critical moments leading up to the match as "Push It" by Static X plays in the background]

November 1998- Young rookie, DAL Upstart Joe E. Legend already making a buzz comes out and challenges the new "Mr. DAL" Jon Jankowski and also has a few words for him which don’t mold well with the veteran.

-Jankowski responds saying he’s ready for whatever Legend has instore. Legend soon after challenges him to a best of 5, loser becomes winner slave [SERVANT] series. Jankowski accepts.

-Jankowski suffers sever beating at hands of Joe E. Legend and [then] tag team partner Johnny Polo [now known as Johnny Blaze.] Legend delivers top rope corkscrew piledriver to the outside of the ring through a table which lands Jankowski in the hospital. Legend also takes out personal Army interviewer Cameraman Bill, who hasn’t been seen in DAL since.

-From there attacks are exchanged, promos are cut each week igniting the feud more and more to the DAL fans liking. Drawing The Army fan favoritism and Legend scorching HEAT.

-Legend is met with retaliation by Carlson, Jacobs, Dangerous and Luke Laser who brutally beat allies of Legend in the arena but come short of getting Legend who excapes. Feuling them even more, but making Legend feel more and more untouchable.

-Jankowski is released from short hospital stay, but is immediately thrown back into competition. Therefor he is easy pickens for Legend who sweeps him in the series. Jankowski endures MONTHS of stress from being Legend’s servant, helping him win matches unwillingly, and having to stop his own friends from even touching Legend.

-INVASION 1999: Legend faces off against the Army w/o Jankowski, plus Dangerous…and defeats all 3 in stunning fashion in a 3 on 1 Gauntlet Match in which Jankowski helped Legend win.

-After much soul searching and regrouping the Army get Jankowski back but have a falling out with Dangerous as a result of the Gauntlet loss to Legend. Legend joins the Infamous Team Candido and his enemy Pro Bowler joins the Army. This sets up a 6 man match at Fallout 1999 where the Army finally beat Legend and Team Candido also. In this match Bowler gets backstabbed by Jankowski and the Army and the Army seem to be gaining confidence.

-2000: The Army run Pro Bowler off to the QPL, but in the meantime have Legend on the rebound. Lt. Bobby Jacobs gets the call to face Legend 1 on 1 at SuperClash II and in a great match BEATS Legend, gaining the Army their first actual PPV or televised VICTORY over Joe E. Legend in singles competition. Breaking his PPV singles winning streak.

This all has lead to the SHOWDOWN at The Invasion of the BodySlammers III Pay Per View, the year Y2K between Joe E. Legend and Jon Jankowski, in what has been already voted 1999’s most heated rivalry…and what has been also one of 2000’s most storied. Their first one on one televised meeting of any kind, happens this month live on PAY PER VIEW!!!
