WHAT AFSA SUPPORTS
- Ensure that annual enlisted pay raises equal of exceed the ECI to counter
inflation, and work toward a plan to eventually eliminate the
military-civilian gap.
- Restore Basic Allowance for Quarters (BAQ) and Variable Housing Allowance
(VHA) to the programmed intent of paying 85 percent of housing costs.
- Continue improvements in both funding and construction
standards for new and existing military family housing
and dormitories.
- Implement Medicare Subvention legislation to protect retirees age 65
and older by allowing them to remain in the MHSS -- requiring
the Health Care Financing Administration to reimburse DOD for
treatment of Medicare-eligible beneficiaries at MTFs.
- Provide a written guarantee of benefits (including health care,
all benefits and facility access) to each enlistee that is legally
binding on the government when it is time to retire.
- Support the provisions of the Reserve Forces Revitalization Act of 1995.
