Bush Baby

The bush baby is a small animal that is about 7 to 8 inches, not including the tail. It looks like an owl and its Swahili name is Komba. It weighs about 5 to 10 ounces. The bush baby lives up to 14 years, it mostly lives in the woodlands and bushlands of Africa. Some of its predators include the eagle, owl, genet, and large snakes.
Bush babies have large round eyes for good night vision. They have bat like ears which enables them to hear approaching predators. They travel mostly in trees and rarely on the ground. This little animal can jump as far as 11 yards in seconds. The tail powers the leap because it is bigger than the body. Bush babies are often found in small groups containing the mother. They make croaking, chattering, and othert clucking sounds.
The female bush baby is very aggressive just before or after giving birth. Just like humans they may have up to triplets at a time. The mother carries her babies either with her hands or mouth. The babies can also grasp the mothers stomach. When carrying the baby the mother slowly walks and has a little waddle, sometimes the mother only carries one baby with her at a time and leaves the rest behind. The father, after the mother gives birth, then moves on to make other babies. Each new born baby can start to nurture and care for themselves after two months from being born. Each baby grows rapidly.
