Desktop Theme's are the scourge to many. What should I have, what images, what colors, what sounds? Well, here's my current desktop setting. Some of the sounds stay the same, but I do overhaul it now and again.

 

Background

Image: Quistis from Final Fantasy 8. Edited through PsP6. Centered. I rarely tile images.

 

Screen Saver

None. Screen savers have a nasty habit of locking up my PC since I leave it on so long. If I do use one, it's possibly my Zamboni or Budwiser screen saver.

 

Appearance

Background: White (Red0, Green 0, Blue 0), Message Box/Active Window: Dark Blue/Light Blue (Red 0, Green 0, Blue 128/Secondary Color: Red 166, Green 202, Blue 240), Inactive Window: Burgandy (Red 112, Green 0, Blue 32). Message Text: MS Sans Serif (western) size 8, Active/Inactive Title Bar Font: Bandy (western) Size 10. Title Bar Font's in White, Message Texts and Multi-Task Fonts in Black.

 

Sounds

Sounds are what I live for on my comp. I'm sound-obsessive, BUT, I don't like long clips for most things. If it runs over 6sec, it just goes into my collection. Here are the sounds that I use, keep in mind you may not have the same programs I do.

Asterik: chord.wav

Critical Stop: chord.wav

Exit Windows: diving.wav - MST3K Crow saying: "I'd put football pads on and just go up and down the street, diving through plateglass windows."

New Mail Notification (Outlook Express): busdriver.wav - SouthPark Stan: "Yeah whatever you fat bitch." Bus Driver: "What did you say?" Stan: "I have a bad itch!" Bus Driver: "Oh."

Question: chord.wav

Start Windows: slave_song.wav - SouthParl Cartman: "Days never finished. Masta got me working. Someday masta set me free" Stan: "Dude, shut up Cartman"

Empty Recycle Bin: trumpy05.wav - MST3K Pod People. Deserves some explaining. Crow is imitating an alien, who was named Trumpy, who loves to eat food. The Boy in the clip is the boy who found and named Trumpy and just gave him food. Boy: "We'll put it away for later" Crow: "No, more" Boy: "Now we can play." Crow: "Like hell, more food."

AOL Sounds

Buddy In: buddyin.wav

Buddy Out: buddyout.wav

Drop: Copyrite.wav - MST3K Joel: "Oh darn it's copyrite", usually used when making a bookmark on AOL.

File Done: BKHats.wav - MST3K Short clip on Posture. Keep in mind, the hats did look like BK Birthday hats.. Narrator: "We'll wear these posture crowns." Joel: "Yeah, they'll go to Burger King and get crappy hats." Tom Servo: "Ohh hooo"

Goodbye: back_to_endor.wav - SouthPark Cartman: "Why don't you Endor you stupid wookie?" Stan: "Wookies don't live on Endor!" Cartman: *gross exageration of what Stan said, unspellable, I think ^_^*

IM (Instant Message): teleport.wav - Tenchi Muyo anime, the teleport sound characters like Ryoko and Azaka and Kamidake make.

Welcome: crow.wav - MST3K Crow: "Crow at bite me dot com"

Got Mail: goswild.wav - MST3K, spoof line from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. In MP&tHG when winter came, as the Narrator said, they had to eat Robins Minstrel's, and they rejoiced *half hearted Yeah's* Joel: "And the crowd goes wild." Crow and Tom: *half hearted* "Yeaaah".
