Mystic Knights Into the Future

Inside the throne room of the castle of Kells, Princess Deidre, Garrett, and Rohan were chatting until Angus and Ivar entered. Angus nervously announced, "Aideen sent for us..."

Ivar asked, "Is everything alright?

Rohan answered, "Earlier, Aideen overheard Maeve's next plan to destroy Kells. She's sending a beast into the future. Maeve wants to ruin Kells in the future to make sure no one will take over."

Garrett giggled, "Yeah, she's having a hard enough time in this lifetime taking over this kingdom."

Deidre added, "Cathbad wants to send the Mystic Knights into the future."

Angus mentioned, "I don't think I like that idea."

Rohan agreed, "I don't either, Angus, but I think it would be the best thing for Kells.

Cathbad entered, "Oh, good all - Mystic Knights are here... You must go into the future right away. It doesn't look good for anything in the future."

Rohan said, "I am ready to go... Anything to stop Maeve from destroying Kells and other people's lands."

Deidre turned to Cathbad, "Father! Will he be alright?

Cathbad acclaimed, "The king will be alright. We still have the Kellsmen. We can trust them."

Ivar patted Deidre's shoulder, "Cathbad's right. Your father will be alright. We must go into the future and defeat Queen Maeve."

Pricess Deidre finally agreed, "Alright. As a princess and warrior for Kells, I must do my duties."

Rohan proudly looked at Deidre and said, "For Kells."

After Deidre covered her heart with her fist, and mimiced, "For Kells."

Cathbad interupted, "We must hurry."

Deidre gave out a big sigh, "I'm ready."

Angus mentioned through his teeth, "I don't think I'm going to like this."

Rohan said, "We're all ready, Cathbad. Let's get on with it."

Cathbad started, "You will be in the year 1999."

Angus interupted, "That is a long time from now. I would be dead by then."

Deidre added with a smile, "So will your kids, and maybe their kids..."

As Cathbad was losing his patients, he shouted, "Oh Angus and Deidre!" Angus and Deidre looked at Cathbad with interest to let Cathbad continue with his lecture. Finally, Cathbad continued, "You will be in a very large island which holds three countries... You will be in the middle of this island called, United States."

Confused Rohan shouted, "Where in dagda are these states?"

Ivar added, "I have traveled many times during my years, and I have not heard of this place."

Cathbad replied, "These states will be discovered one by one for a thousand years from now."

Angus smiled, "I guess you can say, we'll be the first ones that will discover this place. Maybe when we come back, we'll tell people about this place and we might get gold for it. Lots of gold. Ha ha!"

Everyone in the throne room shook their heads with disgrace. Then Garrett mentioned, "There is more to life then gold, Angus."

Finally, Rohan shouted, "Please! We don't have much time. We must do our duties now."

Cathbad continued, "When you are in the United States, you must keep your eyes wide open... Queen Maeve is smart about creating her monsters. Her monster might blend in with this country."

Rohan mentioned, "Let's go now." The druid, Cathbad, added, "Before you go, all of you must look like the people in the future. You might not like what you'll get, but it will be satisfactory to the eyes of humans in the future. Right now, I have the right powder and herbs that will help you look like them."

After Cathbad tossed the mixture of the powder and herbs onto Rohan's face, Rohan quickly changed: his red and orange outfit turned into a T-shirt and blue levis. Everyone in the throne room gasped. Deidre smiled at Rohan, "You look different." Then she begged Cathbad, "I want to be next." Cathbad tossed the powder and herbs on Deidre and she changed into a typical 21rst century young woman. She wore a bright colored sweater and a mini-skirt. She couldn't help herself noticing the pumps that were covering her feet, "What are these? The heals are nothing I know about. They hurt my feet. I can barely stand on them."

Cathbad stated, "I am sorry Deidre, but all woman in many ages will wear those footwear. You will have to get used to them."

Rohan wiped his finger on Deidre's face, "What is that on your face?"

As confused Deidre looked at Cathbad, Cathbad answered, "It is another thing that women wear in the future. I believe they call it - make-up. It makes a woman more beautiful."

Deidre frowned, "I don't think I will like this." Cathbad continued tossing powder and herbs on Angus, Ivar, and Garrett. Angus' hair was short, and wore T-shirt and levis, Ivar wore T-shirt and levis. Garrett had a full head of hair, and wore T-shirt and levis. Deidre smiled, "Wow, you men look different, especially you, Garrett."

Rohan gave Deidre and Garrett a dirty look and stepped in between them, "Let's go into the future, Cathbad."

Cathbad warned the Mystic Knights, "Don't forget your weapons."

As the Knights grabbed their weapons, the fairy, Aideen, begged, "Let me go to the future. I want to go..."

Rohan repied, "No, Aideen. You stay here..." Cathbad added, "We will need you here to help us if Queen Maeve has anymore plans.

Aideen grunted than looked at Rohan and smiled, "I'm going to miss you, Rohan."

Rohan tried not to smile, "Thank you, Aideen."

As Cathbad gave Aideen a dirty look, he ordered, "Be gone, Aideen, and let us get on with this..."

Aideen quickly hid inside Deidre's skirt pocket without anybody noticing. Then Cathbad mentioned, "Now, you, Mystic Knights, are ready to go into the future. You will need to go to Tir Na Nog to get yourselves into the future. Fin Varra is waiting for you."

Minutes after King Fin Varra from Tir Na Nog zapped the Mystic Knights and Aideen into the future, the Mystic Knights couldn't believe what they saw in front of their eyes. They were standing outside of a hotel, noticing people walking in front of them. Princess Deidre chuckled, "Look at the people's garments."

Ivar remembered, "People would look different here."

Anxious Angus asked as he wrung his hands, "What should we do now?"

As Rohan was looking around him, he mentioned, "C'mon, let's go search for Maeve's monster."

Angus started walking towards the busy road full of all types of automobiles bussing by. As Garrett noticed that Angus was stepping in front of a moving car, he quickly grabbed him and pulled him off the road. Angus stood back up and shouted at the cars with anger. Ivar walked next to Angus, "Are you alright, Angus?"

As Angus nodded his head, Rohan yelled out as staring out into the street, "What in dagda are those?"

Garrett agreed, "Those aren't anything I have seen before."

Deidre asked, "Why so many of them?"

Ivar added to the conversation, "I don't think this future will be anything we have expected."

Rohan agreed, "I think we will see a lot of things we are not used to..." Then Rohan changed the subject, "We need to search for this beast. That is why we are here." Then he ordered, "Angus and Ivar, you go north, and Garrett, Deidre and I will go south. If we can't find this creature before dark, we meet here."

Ivar and Angus were heading north until they found the doors to the pet shop. They noticed children coming out of the store with animals. The two Mystic Knights were suspicious, so they entered the store. Ivar noticed the rabbits in a cage, and yelled out, "Angus, they have rabbits here."

A salesperson walked over to Ivar and Angus, "May I help you?"

Angus answered, "Yeah, I noticed that you have rabbits, but do you have any boars?"

The salesperson questioned, "Boars?"

After Angus nodded, he said, "We're awfully hungry."

Ivar added, "We love rabbits, but boars are splendid meals."

The poor salesperson was getting angry and tossed Ivar and Angus out of the pet shop. Angus got very upset and yelled, "We're very hungry!"

Then Ivar stopped Angus, "We shouldn't think about our stomachs, we should search for Queen Maeve's beast."

Even though, Angus wanted to eat so bad, he knew Ivar was right, so he frowned, "Right."

Then the two confused and hungry Mystic Knights continued their search going north.

As Rohan, Garrett, and Deidre were heading south, Deidre noticed a tall white building. They couldn't read the signs on the building, but Princess Deidre became very curious, "Let's go inside."

Rohan disagreed, "I don't think it would be a good idea, Deidre. We are here to find one of Maeve's monster."

Garrett mentioned, "No. It might be a good idea, Rohan. We might find some clues to the where-abouts of this monster."

As Garrett led the way to the white building, Rohan frowned until he felt Deidre's hand wrapped around his wrist. Then Rohan couldn't resist smiling back at Deidre's friendly smile. Deidre led Rohan to the white building.

When the three suspicious Mystic Knights entered inside the tall white building, a lady dressed in a uniform announced, "Welcome to this mall."

Deidre looked at Rohan and Garrett, then back at the lady, "Mall?"

Garrett asked, "What's a mall?"

The lady felt sorry for them, and answered, "A mall is full of little shops..." Then she asked, "I noticed you have an accent. May I ask - where are you from?"

Rohan gave out a funny look, "Accent... What in dagda is an accent?"

"I hope you'll enjoy our mall," The lady said to save herself some grief.

Then the three Mystic Knights entered the mall with confusion. Deidre asked, "I wonder what she meant by accent."

Garrett shook his head, then announced, "Have you noticed she talked funny?"

Rohan chuckled, "Yeah, she's definitely not from Kells."

As time went by, Rohan, Garrett, and Deidre explored through every store in the mall until they went inside a store that handled ancient supplies. Garrett and Rohan found a book with pictures of knight warriors wearing their armors. The two young men were excited to see the pictures, but they just couldn't understand the words under the pictures. Garrett said, "I like the pictures, but what is underneath them?"

Rohan answered, "I don't know, but they could be symbols that mean something. Like telling a story..."

The salesperson in the store couldn't help himself noticing Rohan's sword strapped on his back. He walked over to Rohan, "Where did you get that sword? By the looks of it, it looks very ancient. I bet it's worth a lot..."

Easy-going Rohan answered, "It is worth a lot, its from Kells."

The anxious salesperson replied, "Kells, Ireland? I must buy it. How much is it worth to you?"

Rohan said, "I must not get rid of it, it is my weapon."

The salesperson asked, "I'll give you a million dollars for it. If you will allow me..."

Finally, Garrett mentioned, "We can not give you this sword. By the way what are dollars?"

The confused uptight salesperson announced, "I'm sorry, but I can't help you in this store."

Then Deidre grabbed Garrett and Rohan and led them outside the store, "We must find something to eat. It must be lunch time."

Ivar and Angus finally found a place that served food. It was a fast food restaurant. As the waiter waited on Angus and Ivar, Angus mentioned, "My friend and I will try your hamburgers. And can we have two waters?"

When Angus and Ivar had to pay for their meals, they didn't understand about dollars and cents, so Ivar poked Angus' arm, "Give him a piece of gold."

Angus frowned and took out a piece of gold and asked the waiter, "Will this do?"

The waiter asked, "What's this?"

Ivar answered, "It's gold."

Angus added, "Pure gold."

The waiter grabbed it out of Angus' hand and tested it himself, and realized that they were telling the truth, "My gosh, it is real gold... With this gold, you can buy this whole place."

Ivar smiled, "Just the food, my friend."

Angus was still frowning, but he looked at the waiter, "Thank you."

Minutes later, the two Mystic Knights learned about hamburgers. Angus peeked inside the two buns, then asked the waiter, "What is this? I asked for a hamburger. I thought we were getting ham."

The young waiter said, "Dude, you asked for a regular hamburger. Like a hamburger has beef meat in it."

Angus asked, "Then why is this called a hamburger?"

Ivar asked, "Dude?"

The young waiter answered Angus, "Like I don't know, dude. I wondered that myself all my life...you know..."

Confused Angus responded, "Okay."

Finally, Ivar ordered the waiter, "Be gone, servant."

Puzzled Angus mentioned, "This is an ugly place, Ivar. This whole thing...this future."

"Cathbad and Rohan said that this would be different, Angus. We must get along with everything here," Ivar reminded Angus.

Angus frowned, "I know. I know."

By the time the sky was getting dark, all the Mystic Knights returned back to the front of the hotel. No one found Queen Maeve's creature. The five Mystic Knights frowned at each other until Rohan suggested, "We need to find a place to sleep for the night. We can go on with this search for the next coming day."

Deidre asked as she looked at each building around her, "Where shall we go?"

Rohan said, "Let's go inside this building behind us, and maybe someone in here can tell us where we can find a place to sleep." As Rohan walked towards the hotel doors, he ordered, "C'mon."

The five Mystic Knights couldn't believe what they saw. Inside the building had a bright red carpeting, and a very lard brown desk. Behind the desk was a young lady talking on the phone. She noticed the five lost young people from the past, and announced to them as she was still holding the telephone to her ear, "If you'll wait for a few minutes, I'll get to you."

Angus asked quietly, "What is that thing on her ear?"

Ivar added, "It is very different. If you'll see, she is also talking into the other side of that thing."

Garrett mentioned, "The future is a very different world."

Rohan agreed, "Yes, it is, my friend."

Deidre cried, "I hope she can help us soon, because I don't think I can stay awake much longer."

Finally, the hotel employee asked the five Mystic Knights as she hung up the telephone, "Now, how can I help you?"

As Rohan gave the lady a friendly smile, he said, "Yes, we hope you can tell us where would be a good place for us to spend the night."

The lady gave Rohan a smile back, "Here, of course. Don't worry this hotel is vacant. How many rooms do you want?"

Ivar asked the lady, "Does that mean we can stay?"

After the lady nodded her head, Rohan acclaimed, "We will take three rooms. One for Angus and Me, another one for Ivar and Garrett, and the other room for the princess."

The hotel lady melted in front of Deidre, "Oh, that is so neat that your guy friends think of you as a princess. I know I would like my guy friends to treat me like that."

Deidre gave the lady a funny look, "But I am a princess."

As the lady gave Deidre a sweet smile, she agreed, "I'm sure you are...to have friends like that..." Then the lady grabbed three keys, and turned to Rohan, "Now, all I need is your signature and your payment, and the rooms are yours."

Late that night, Deidre is in her motel room preparing herself for bed, then all of a sudden, Aideen finally flew out of her skirt pocket. The princess jumped, "Aideen, what are you doing here? You aren't supposed to be here."

Aideen cried, "I know, but I had to come. I couldn't be alone with the king and Cathbad."

Deidre asked, "You mean that you have been in my pocket all this time?"

The fairy replied, "Yes, I couldn't show myself in front of the other Mystic Knights, Rohan would be oh so mad at me. Please don't tell anyone, Deidre?"

After a sigh, Deidre promised, "Okay, I won't tell, but when Cathbad finds out that you aren't back in Kells, he'll..."

Aideen nibbled on her bottom lip, "I know."

At the same time in Rohan and Angus' room, Rohan was laying on his bed, and Angus was studying everything in the room. He walked towards the television set, "What is this thing?"

Through his sleepy voice, Rohan answered, "I don't know. Go to sleep, will ya. We have a long day ahead of us - tomorrow."

Angus argued, "No, I want to see this thing. I wonder what it does."

Rohan growled, "Leave it alone."

Curious Angus didn't say anything back, instead he played with all the knobs and buttons on the television. When he found out how to turn on the television, the sound disturbed Rohan's sleep. Rohan sat straight up in bed and Angus jumped back away from the television. Angus smiled, "Wow, what is this?"

The nervous Rohan squirmed, "I don't know, but get rid of it, Angus."

Angus cried out as he was turning the knobs, "I don't know how. I can't remember how I turned this thing on." Angus kept on changing the channels until he noticed people fighting on the screen. They were using guns. The loud bangs made both Rohan and Angus more nervous. They have never seen guns before. Angus asked, "Are those weapons?"

Rohan stared deeply at the guns as he answered, "Maybe." The people on television were killing each other. Rohan's eyes grew, "Powerful weapons, wouldn't you say?"

Angus frowned, "Those weapons are making everyone dead. I don't know if I like that."

The upset Rohan agreed," I don't like this either. Let's get rid of this thing..."

"I agree," Angus said before he threw the television set out the window. Then he turned to Rohan, "And I thought our weapons were powerful..."

The first thing in the next morning, the Mystic Knights heard screams coming from everywhere outside the hotel. Rohan and the rest of the Knights rushed out of the hotel as fast as they could. People and cars were leaving town as fast as they could. Suddenly, Ivar noticed three blocks away, a very large monster was heading towards them, "Look everyone, a beast is coming from over there."

Garrett and Angus' eyes widened and easy-going Rohan mentioned, "It looks like one of Maeve's beasts."

Princess Deidre ordered, "Let's get our weapons ready and call for our armor."

Rohan agreed, "My sediments exactly."

As they raised their weapons, they called their armor one at a time:

Rohan: Fire within me.

Deidre: Air above me.

Angus: Earth beneath me.

Ivar: Water around me.

Garrett: Forest before me.

After every Mystic Knight changed into their armor, two drunk teenaged boys walked over to them and said, "Dude! That was cool. Can you show us that again?"

The Mystic Knight of Fire brushed them towards the town's people and ordered, "No, go with your people. It is not safe for you to be here."

The two drunk boys didn't mind Rohan, so Angus chased them off and yelled through his teeth, "Go!"

Queen Maeve's monster was getting closer, so the five Knights were getting themselves ready by aiming their weapons to the huge ugly creature. All the town's people stopped screaming when they noticed fire coming out of Rohan's sword. Half of the people stood there staring with their mouths opened at the string of fire shooting at the monster. The other half were asking each other, "What is that?"

The fire wasn't doing very well destroying the monster, so Rohan ordered with his soft Irish voice, "Everyone. join me. All together now."

The rest of the Mystic Knights used their weapons at the same time on Maeve's creature, then half of the town's people gasped, "Wow! How do they do that?"

After the beast melted into the grown, a policeman walked over to the five Mystic Knights, "That was great. Who are you guys?"

Rohan answered, "We are Mystic Knights."

The policeman replied with a chuckle, "Are you like Superman or somethin'?"

After the five Knights looked at each other with confusion, Angus asked, "Who?"

Deidre repeated Angus, "Ssssuperman?"

Ivar asked, "Who's Superman?"

Rohan politely answered the cop, "I don't think so..."

Garrett told the policeman, "Protecting your land was our duty."

The policeman thanked the Mystic Knights, "How can we reward you for saving this town?"

Angus wished out loud, "Gold?"

As Rohan stopped Angus, he replied to the cop, "We don't accept rewards for our duties."

Ivar added with a smile, "Just seeing your people happy is enough."

The policeman patted Rohan on the back and announced to the five Knights, "Don't be a stranger in this town, come back as often as you would like."

After the cop left, the five Mystic Knights looked at each other and Rohan mentioned, "Let's go back inside the building where we slept and get ourselves back to Kells."

All the Mystic Knights met inside Rohan and Angus' room. Angus mentioned, "I can't wait to get back to Kells and take a regular Kells bath and sleep on my own bed again."

Princess Deidre agreed, "I can't wait to stop wearing this footwear - they hurt my feet."

As Rohan smiled at Deidre, "Well then, let's go back to Kells."

"Before we go, I need to do something...." Deidre announced. "Aideen! Aideen!"

Then Aideen flew to Deidre, "Yes, princess?"

Rohan roared, "Aideen... What are you doing here? You are supposed to be back in Kells."

Aideen cried, "I had to come to the future with you, Rohan. I want to see the future."

Princess Deidre interupted the conversation, "Aideen, go inside my pocket, we are going back to Kells. We have found and destroyed Queen Maeve's beast."

The little fairy flew inside Deidre's skirt pocket with joy, "Yipee!"

Garrett looked around the room, "Who has the powder that will take us back to Kells?"

Rohan and Angus looked at each other innocently, then Ivar announced, "I have the powders." Then he looked at Rohan, "What do we do with these pouches of powders?"

"Well, Fin Varra said we must stand in a line and each one of us throws the powder up over our heads, and we should be in Kells quickly," Ivar answered.

Garrett smiled, "Let's do this."

One by one each Mystic Knight tossed the mixture of the powerful powders over their heads and within seconds they were back in Kells during the 500's A.D. where they belong. Their looks changed back also. They five young Knights were happy to see everything was back to normal. Cathbad was standing in front of them, "Aw, you, Mystic Knights, are back."

Excited Rohan cried, "Cathbad! We are back from the future."

Cathbad asked, "How did you like the future?"

Angus quickly spoke up, "Let me say, I didn't like it. They had so many things that were scary, and people kept on calling me, dude. I kept on telling them that my name is Angus, but they wanted to call me dude."

Princess Deidre added, "I have to agree with Angus. I didn't like the garments I had to wear and that stuff on my face. The footwear hurt my feet. I am glad to be back in Kells."

Rohan agreed, "Me too, Deidre."

Garrett told Cathbad, "We destroyed another of Queen Maeve's beast. Another victory for Kells!"

Cathbad announced, "While you were into the future, Queen Maeve and her soldiers came to the castle of Kells and we had another battle."

Worried Deidre asked, "Father? Is he alright?"

As Cathbad nodded his head slowly, he replied, "Yes, Deidre, King Canchabar is fine. He was a true fighter like the Mystic Knights. Our soldiers and King Canchabar handled the battle just fine." Then he added, "Now, all we can do is wait for Maeve's next plan."

Rohan's body tensed up as he announced, "We will fight Maeve until Kells gets complete Victory... For Kells!"
