I believed your anchor was secure wedged between my hands,
Yet the sea of time eroded and broke our rusty chain, setting you adrift.
Together we could have faced our storms and made new links
But those unrelenting waves of trouble I could not overpower alone.
I can almost see the outline of your heart on the horizon
Pleading to me to caress it with the warmth of the sun.
However, it hides behind gloomy clouds vanishing from view,
Only to appear later raining down words of anger and confusion.
Now I look for you amongst strewn wreckages of love, hopes and dreams,
Washed up on the jagged rocks and caught in the shallow reefs,
Hoping that the once cruel and destructive forces of nature
Will bring you back to my soft sand-carpeted shores one more time.
